Are glyphosate and COVID-19 connected?
Glyphosate, one of the most toxic chemicals in the world, may be the key to why some people get severely ill from COVID-19. An MIT senior research scientist reports:

The pandemic that we have long been told is coming any day now has unfortunately arrived. A new strain of coronavirus named SARS-CoV-2, causing the new disease called COVID-19, has taken the world by storm, practically shutting down the global economy and overwhelming hospital systems.
I’m a senior research scientist at MIT. I have devoted over 12 years to trying to understand the role of toxic chemicals in the deterioration of human health. I’ve been particularly focused on figuring out what has been driving the skyrocketing rates of autism in America and around the world. My research strongly suggests that glyphosate (the active ingredient in the weed killer Roundup) is a primary cause of the autism epidemic in the United States. When the COVID-19 pandemic began its march across the world, I started to consider whether glyphosate might play a role.
If there is indeed a connection between glyphosate and COVID-19, understanding why and how could play a critical role in combating this pandemic.
Coronaviruses are the cause of the common cold, a nuisance for sure, but usually not considered dangerous. Somehow this one is different. It seems to ferociously attack the lungs, causing the immune system to launch a so-called “cytokine storm,” an exaggerated response by the immune system to an infection that can lead to collateral damage to the lung tissues.
The molecules that are released cause extensive oxidative damage, overwhelming antioxidant defenses. The lungs get destroyed by the body’s own immune system, and the process can terminate either in asphyxiation due to insufficient oxygen, or a complete blood meltdown with massive clot formations throughout the vasculature, often associated with sepsis and/or multiple organ failure.
We’ve all been reading about people who have died from respiratory failure due to what, for some, can be a devastating infectious disease.
But such disastrous outcomes only happens in a small percentage of those who are infected. Others experience only a bad cold, or even a mild cold or, remarkably, no symptoms at all. My colleague’s 20-year-old daughter had a CDC-confirmed case. But she had only two symptoms: fatigue and a loss of a sense of smell.
What’s the difference between the people who rapidly succumb to the virus and tragically die, like this father and teacher in New York , and people, like my colleague’s daughter, who barely notice they are sick?
And what’s the difference between the geographical locations where the virus is causing a serious crisis and those that hardly notice a departure from normalcy?
Innate versus adaptive immunity
I believe the answer may lie in the state of health of the person’s innate immune system.
The human immune system consists of an “innate” component that is always active and normally very competent to clear most infections that come along, and an “adaptive” component which is a second-line defense system called into play when the innate system is overwhelmed.
The innate component produces a number of different specialized proteins that can hunt down and trap viruses, delivering them to macrophages for clearance.
The adaptive immune system has basically two branches, one of which produces a “cytokine storm” in an attempt to “shoot” the rapidly proliferating viruses with toxic molecules. The other branch produces antibodies that are specific to the infective agent, but this can lead to autoimmune disease down the road through a process called molecular mimicry.
If the innate immune system is broken, the adaptive system goes into overdrive. When this happens there can be sufficient collateral damage to ultimately kill the host.
Why did Robert and Elizabeth Mar both die? A surprising hypothesis about glyphosate and COVID-19
Robert and Elizabeth Mar were a couple who lived in Seattle. They ran a popular restaurant in the section of the city called Maple Leaf [1]. Tragically, they both succumbed to COVID-19 and died within two days of each other.
The Mars were both in their 70s, so they match the profile of increased susceptibility due to older age. But perhaps a more significant factor was the fact that their restaurant was located just a few blocks from Interstate 5, an 8-lane highway where trucks, buses, and cars passed by all day long, spewing out toxic exhaust fumes.
Why would the location of their restaurant matter? My hypothesis is that the biofuel industry is inadvertently introducing glyphosate into fuels that power our cars, trucks, buses, airplanes, and ships. While it has long been known that exhaust fumes are toxic to the lungs, there has been a transformation in the fuel industry over the past decade that may have led to a critical increase in the toxicity of the fumes. Specifically, aerosolized glyphosate may be causing damage to the lungs that makes catching what should be a mild cold into a serious health crisis.
Glyphosate is the active ingredient in the pervasive herbicide, Roundup. It’s used extensively on GMO and non-GMO crops alike, both to control weeds and as a desiccant at the harvest. The waste products from these crops are the raw components that go into the biofuels.
Figure 1: Map of the area around Queens, New York. Map provided by Google Maps.
A link to waterways, highways, and airports
Seattle is a coastal city, situated between Lake Washington and Elliot Bay, with Lake Union to the north. Water comprises 41% of the area of Seattle. Wuhan, China, is the city where the COVID-19 outbreak first started. The Yangtze River slices through Wuhan. The Yangtze River is highly polluted with industrial wastewater discharge, as well as with runoff of fertilizer and pesticides from adjacent agricultural lands.
The two biggest hot spots in the United States of coronavirus are New York City and New Orleans. New York City is at the mouth of the Hudson River, and New Orleans is at the mouth of the mighty Mississippi. The connection between glyphosate and COVID-19 could be seen in locations where dangerous runoff is more prevalent.
If you look at a map of the hot spots as of March 26, 2020, you see a huge area that tracks the Mississippi down to New Orleans, as well as a series of hot spots in North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska, and Iowa that trace the Missouri River, a tributary of the Mississippi.
There is another cluster of COVID-19 outbreaks between Minneapolis, Minnesota and Chicago, Illinois along the west bank of Lake Michigan. The Hudson River has basically a straight-line course north to south, originating in the Adirondack Mountains of upstate New York and terminating in New York Harbor. The entire course of the river is buried in hot spots on the map, with a huge hot spot centered over New York City.
Queens, New York is perhaps the most affected area in all of the United States. A case can certainly be made for New York being vulnerable due to the large number of international visitors as well as excess crowding in a metropolitan area.
However, as the map below shows, Queens is also nearly surrounded by water, and it has La Guardia International Airport just to the north and JFK to the south. It is cut through by three major interstate highways, I-278, I-495, and I-678.
Aviation biofuels
The airline industry has been exploring the use of aviation biofuels since at least 2009. United Airlines was the first airline to introduce aviation biofuel in its airplanes, and the first city in the world to offer aviation biofuel was Los Angeles, California.
Within California, Los Angeles is a COVID-19 hot spot. United offers many flights to the United hub just to the south of New York City, Newark Liberty International.
The Netherlands has been harder hit than many other countries of Europe. In 2011, KLM Royal Dutch Airlines became the first airline in the world to operate a commercial flight on aviation biofuels [2]. The fuels were biokerosene derived from used cooking oil.
United Airlines, American Airlines, Virgin Atlantic, and Air France, now all power airplanes with a blend of conventional fuel and aviation biofuel. All offer services into and out of New York City. Other cities with major airports in the United States, besides New York City and Los Angeles, stand out as hot spots, such as Denver and Salt Lake City in the Mountain West.
Figure 2: A map of the hot spots in the United States where COVID-19 infection rates are highest, as of March 26, 2020. At this point in time, the United States had the highest number of confirmed COVID-19 cases among all countries in the world. See this CNBC article [3] for details.
Glyphosate and COVID-19: contaminated biofuels
Carbon emissions have become a focal issue in the fight to reverse climate change. One promising approach has been to convert waste biomass into oil-based fuels to augment diesel fuel [4].
Europe has been a leader in deploying biodiesel fuel derived from food waste vegetable oils, such as olive oil [5].
The United States has seen some successful enterprises launch, based on converting “woody biomass” (waste from the forest industry) and the stalks of corn and wheat post-harvest into biodiesel fuel [6].
All of these sources can be expected to be contaminated with glyphosate.
Despite being the world’s biggest producer of biodiesel, Europe still depends significantly on imports to supply its demand for biodiesel [7]. Imports increased by two-fold between 2016 and 2017, and again by 3-fold between 2017 and 2018. In 2018, Europe imported nearly one billion gallons of biodiesel. Much of this came from Argentina. Argentina, in turn, exports nearly half of its production to places around the world, and the source of its biodiesel is GMO Roundup-Ready soybeans.
Italy has developed a technology that involves gathering used olive oil from restaurants and converting it into biodiesel fuel. While Italy does not allow GMO crops, the country routinely uses glyphosate to control the weeds growing around olive trees.
Lombardy, Italy has been a hot spot for COVID-19 even before the epidemic emerged in the U.S. Lombardy has a serious issue with air pollution, particularly with respect to diesel fuel [8].
The three leading cities in the United States in utilizing biodiesel both in vehicles and as heating oil for homes are:
- New York City
- New Orleans
- Washington, D.C. [9]
New York City uses biodiesel to fuel 11,000 vehicles, and it also uses biodiesel, blended with heating oil, to heat buildings. Just in 2018, 35 million gallons of biodiesel were used to heat buildings. The Regional Transit Authority in New Orleans runs city buses on a hybrid mix of electricity and biodiesel. All three of these cities are at the mouth of major waterways, and the most convenient and cheapest way to transport debris from the forest industry and from food crops is via river barges.
As of March 28, Russia had confirmed a total of 1,264 cases of COVID-19 infection. This can be compared to over 2000 deaths from COVID-19 in the United States at the same time [10].
Why the difference? Are Russians healthier than Americans? Consider this: Russia has been a very reluctant participant in the efforts to reduce carbon emissions through the use of biofuels [11]. A strong oil and gas lobby has prevented the development of a biofuels technology sector in Russia.
Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease
Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is the third leading cause of death worldwide [12]. While smoking is the primary risk factor for COPD, farmers and agricultural workers are known to have an increased risk to lung disease.
A population-based study published in 2017 showed that occupational exposure to herbicides was associated with more than a 2-fold increased risk to COPD [13].
A 2020 paper, published in the Lancet, “COVID-19: consider cytokine storm syndromes and immunosuppression,” claims that “respiratory failure from acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) is the leading cause of mortality” in COVID-19 infection [14].
Other research helps connect the dots: This cleverly designed study by Kumar et al., published in 2014, involved collecting air samples from farms during glyphosate application, and exposing a group of mice to these samples.
The authors noted that glyphosate exposure stimulated airway inflammation and promoted asthma-related cytokines. They summarized as follows:
Collectively, our results showed that mice continuously exposed to glyphosate developed elevated levels of eosinophils, neutrophils, and asthma-related cytokines (IL-5, IL-10, IL-13, IL-33, TSLP) compared to control groups. Exposure to glyphosate results in airway barrier damage.” [15, my emphasis]
In high doses, it is clear that glyphosate has a profound damaging effect on the lungs, even when taken orally. We know that a farmer who tried to commit suicide by drinking a cup of a glyphosate-containing herbicide formulation developed a precipitous drop in blood pressure along with hypoxia, respiratory distress, and acute pulmonary edema within a short time of admission to the hospital [16].
A meta-analysis of seven studies involving 1,813 COVID-19 patients reported several statistics on associations between ICU admission and various risk factors [17]. Shortness of breath was the strongest symptom linked to the infection. COPD was the most strongly predictive comorbidity for both severe disease and ICU admission.
In this study, people suffering from COPD had an 18-fold increased risk of ending up in the ICU. Cardiovascular disease and hypertension were also strong risk factors for severe disease, and smoking is a causal factor in both of them.
E-cigarettes and vaporized glyphosate
E-cigarettes are battery-operated devices that heat a liquid and deliver an aerosolized product to the user. Recently, an epidemic has emerged in the U.S. of an unusual lung disease, clearly linked to the use of e-cigarettes, otherwise known as “vaping.”
This newly emergent disease has been given the name, E-cigarette, or Vaping, Product Use-Associated Lung Injury (EVALI).
A 2020 paper published in the New England Journal of Medicine describes the typical symptoms of this new disease:
“The most common respiratory symptoms were shortness of breath (85%), cough (85%), and chest pain (52%). Reported gastrointestinal symptoms included nausea (66%), vomiting (61%), diarrhea (44%), and abdominal pain (34%). All patients had one or more constitutional symptoms, with the most common being subjective fever (84%). Upper respiratory symptoms such as rhinorrhea, sneezing, or congestion were not commonly reported.” [18, my emphasis].
The most well-known symptoms of COVID-19 infection are dry cough, fever, and shortness of breath, but there can also be digestive issues such as diarrhea and vomiting [19]. Distinct from a normal cold, rhinorrhea (runny nose) is usually absent. The symptoms of COVID-19 are remarkably similar to the symptoms of EVALI.
Propylene glycol and glycerol are important additives in e-cigarettes. These are often sourced from waste from the biodiesel manufacturing process [20].
Furthermore, vitamin E acetate is sometimes used as a thickening agent in e-cigarette production, and it has been identified as a candidate source of the lung problems associated with vaping, although no biological mechanism has been offered [21].
What scientists are missing is that vitamin E is commonly sourced from soybean oil, probably from GMO “Roundup-ready” soybeans, since these are the lion’s share of the soybean market. And the biodiesel fuel industry relies on the debris on GMO roundup-ready corn fields or fields of wheat commonly sprayed with glyphosate just before the harvest.
Since vaping involves heat, vapors are released that likely contain vaporized glyphosate, which is then breathed into the lungs and directly impacts the lung tissues.
The science behind e-cigarette lung damage
An elegant study investigating the effects of e-cigarette vapors on the lungs of mice reveals exactly how the lungs are impacted by the exposure [22]. A group of mice received Electronic Nicotine Delivery Systems (ENDS) vapor for 4 months, and were subsequently exposed to flu virus. Their reaction was compared with that of control mice that had not been exposed to ENDS. The story is complex, but I will show here through logical deduction how the defects observed in the lungs of these mice can be explained by exposure to glyphosate.
The team of researchers began by explaining what pulmonary surfactant is, because they had observed that surfactant was profoundly disturbed by the e-cigarette vapors. They explain:
Pulmonary surfactant, a complex mixture of lipids and proteins produced exclusively by alveolar type II pneumocytes (ATIIs), forms a critical part of the alveolar-lining fluid… Surfactant reduces alveolar surface tension, thereby preventing lung atelectasis (collapse of the lung), ventilation perfusion mismatch, and hypoxemia…Surfactant protein A (SP-A) and surfactant protein D (SP-D), 2 components of the surfactant complex, play essential roles in innate immune defense by facilitating microbial opsonization and clearance.”
In other words, these two proteins, SP-A and SP-D, are essential for breathing in air and for fighting a virus infection. If they are disrupted, it can be predicted that a viral infection will induce impaired lung function and extreme difficulty in breathing.
One striking characteristic of mice receiving ENDS was significantly reduced concentrations of SP-D in the bronchoalveolar lavage fluid [22].
Another study has shown that mice that are deficient in SP-D show decreased viral clearance of influenza virus A [23].
People who suffer from asthma have a severe deficiency in SP-D [24]. All of this is highly suggestive of the 2014 study by Kumar et al. described earlier, where mice exposed to glyphosate in samples of air collected from farms released many cytokines and experienced asthma-like symptoms, as would be expected with SP-D being dysfunctional [15].
The authors of the e-cigarette study summarized their findings as follows: “Together, our data demonstrate that exposure to ENDS vapor reduces innate immune responsiveness, and long-term exposure impairs the ability of mice to control pulmonary infection with influenza.”
In other words, ENDS vapor impairs the innate immune system, causing an overreaction of the adaptive immune system to an infection.
Collectins: proteins essential for the innate immune system
SP-A and SP-D are members of an important class of proteins called collectins.
Collectins are essential for the innate immune system to function properly. They bind to viruses, bacteria, worms, allergenic proteins, and apoptotic cells, and then opsonize them (make them more susceptible to clearance by phagocytes).
Collectins also aggregate viruses and present them to immune cells for clearance. Think of them like vacuum cleaners: collectins clear out debris and infective agents throughout the body [23].
There are several other members of this class that are important for innate immune function, including mannose binding lectin (MBL), the complement protein C1q, and a macrophage scavenger receptor protein. In in vitro studies, it has been demonstrated that MBL binds to the SARS coronavirus, and inhibits viral infectivity in cultured cells [25].
Notably, all of these proteins are characterized by a “collagen-like” stalk, which contains a peptide sequence that is well matched to peptide sequences that define collagen.
Collagen is by far the most common protein in the body. Collagen molecules make up 25% of the total protein mass of the body. They essentially form the “glue” that holds together joints, bone, skin, and the organs.
Collagen has extraordinarily high levels of glycine, the smallest amino acid, and glycine is essential for the formation of its crystalline triple-helix structure. Long sequences in collagen and in the collectins consist of a characteristic motif of “GxyGxyGxy…,” where G is glycine and x and y are “wild cards” standing for any amino acid, including glycine.
Many genetic diseases of the bones and joints involve mutations where a single glycine residue in collagen is replaced by something else. This disrupts formation of the triple helix and impairs the protein’s function.
The collectin SP-D has a collagen-like sequence that goes like this:
… GLPGR DGRDGREGPR GEKGDPGLPG AAGQAGMPGQ AGPVGPKGDN GSVGEPGPKG DTGPSGPPGP PGVPGPAGRE GPLGKQGNIG PQGKPGPKGE AGPKGEVGAP GMQGSAGARG LAGPKGERGV PGERGVPGNT GAAGSAGAMG PQGSPGARGP PGLKGDKGIP GDKGAKGESG … [26]
In several papers published in collaboration with other researchers, I have made a strong argument for the idea that glyphosate can substitute by mistake for glycine during protein synthesis. Glyphosate is an amino acid analogue of glycine—in fact, it is a complete glycine molecule except that there is extra material attached to its nitrogen atom. As such, it becomes plausible that it could mess up proteins by displacing glycine during protein assembly.
This idea of an analogue substituting for an innate amino acid is not new. There are several known examples of amino acid analogues of other amino acids that cause diseases such as ALS, multiple sclerosis, and metabolic disorders.
Importantly, much of the evidence that glyphosate is substituting for glycine comes from Monsanto’s own early studies on glyphosate.
But perhaps the best source where you can learn the details is the most recent paper among my publications concerning chronic kidney disease of unknown origin (CKDu), a new disease that is ravaging agricultural workers in Central America and Sri Lanka [27].
I believe that glyphosate’s disruption of collagen is a major contributor to the epidemic we are witnessing today in joint problems, including back pain, hip replacement therapy, knee surgery, neck pain, and shoulder pain.
All these proteins used by the innate immune system to trap and clear viruses can be predicted to be equally vulnerable to glyphosate substitution, because of their highly susceptible long sequence that is greatly enriched in glycine. This would lead to an impaired innate immune response in association with COVID-19.
What am I pointing out? That a growing body of scientific literature, including various studies on both people and mice, can be taken as a whole to suggest that glyphosate may be damaging the lungs in such a way so as to induce an acute response to a new cold virus, leading to extensive damage to the lungs, difficulty breathing, and an inability to efficiently clear the virus from the body in some people. Furthermore, glyphosate is found in biodiesel fuel and in e-cigarettes, and exposure to such sources may be what primes some people to become severely ill or even die from COVID-19.
Fatty liver disease
One of the striking features of the lungs observed in the study on mice exposed to vaping fumes was the abnormal accumulation of fat deposits in macrophages in the lungs:
“Comprehensive lipidomic and structural analyses of the lungs revealed aberrant phospholipids in alveolar macrophages and increased surfactant-associated phospholipids in the airway,” the researchers explain [22].
Liver disease is one of the preconditions associated with increased risk to acute response to COVID-19 infection.
A review study of the statistics of COVID-19 patients in China reported that 14-53% of cases reported in various studies had abnormal levels of alanine aminotransferase (ALT) and aspartate aminotransferase (AST), which are commonly used indicators of liver disease [28].
Fatty liver disease is one of the many chronic diseases whose prevalence has been rising alarmingly in the population, in step with the rapid rise in the use of glyphosate on core crops over the past two decades.
A recent study showed that people with fatty liver disease had statistically significantly increased levels of glyphosate in their urine, and those with advanced liver fibrosis had elevated levels compared to those with less advanced disease [29].
Another study on rats exposed to glyphosate at levels below regulatory limits showed that the rats developed fatty liver disease, despite very low exposure levels [30].
Additional studies have shown that a characteristic of fatty liver disease is the accumulation of lipids in both the liver-resident macrophages, called Kupffer cells, and invasive macrophages that home in on the liver following the release of liver stress signals [31].
The mice exposed to e-cigarette vapors responded by accumulating fats in the macrophages in the lungs, just as the rats exposed orally to glyphosate accumulated fats in the liver macrophages. It is logical that inhaled glyphosate would have a more immediate impact on the lungs (rather than the liver), but the effect (fat accumulation) is the same in both organs.
A broader perspective on glyphosate and COVID-19
Glyphosate is ubiquitous. It’s not only a major contaminant in food, but it’s also in soil, rivers, lakes, streams, and groundwater, and in blood, urine, and breast milk. It’s in rain and in the air and in lung tissue.
The ubiquitous presence of glyphosate is a major threat to human health.
Swanson et al. published a paper in 2014 that showed plots of several chronic diseases alarmingly on the rise, with the use of glyphosate on core crops superimposed on the plots [32]. The correlations were stunning, consistently with p-values less than 0.00001 for the likelihood that the match could have occurred by chance.
An analysis of those who died in Lombardy due to COVID-19 revealed that 99% of them suffered from at least one chronic disease, and nearly half suffered from three or more [33].
The conditions included heart disease, hypertension, diabetes, COPD, chronic liver disease, chronic renal failure, atrial fibrillation, stroke, dementia and cancer.
The paper by Swanson et al. includes many of these diseases in the plots.
Is this all just coincidence? I don’t think so. Instead, I strongly suspect that the degree to which a person is susceptible to COVID-19 is proportional to the degree to which they have been exposed to glyphosate. Eating a certified organic diet and staying away from major highways may be among the best tools for protection from an acute reaction to COVID-19.
Researchers from Wuhan, China have done a careful study of four patients who suffered from an acute reaction to COVID-19 and ultimately died [34]. These patients all had severe issues with insufficient oxygen supply due to pneumonia. They also exhibited deficiencies in immune function in terms of decreased counts of various types of immune cells.
Notably, they all suffered from gut dysbiosis, with under-representation of Bifidobacteria and Lactobacillus, and disproportionate overrepresentation of pathogens such as Corynebacterium and Ruthenibacterium. They also had a fungus infection with an overgrowth of Aspergillus. This pattern of gut dysbiosis is in accord with what my colleagues and I have observed in association with glyphosate exposure in animal studies [35].
The Chinese researchers explain:
“Hypoxemia severity was closely related with host immune cell levels, and the vicious circle between immune disorder and gut microbiota imbalance may be a high risk of fatal pneumonia.”
A study on air and rain samples taken from Mississippi, Iowa, and Indiana found widespread glyphosate contamination, showing that it is accumulating in the atmosphere [36].
Since our country has been in lockdown, the number of vehicles on the roads has plummeted. This reduces exposure to glyphosate. With fewer cars on the road, you breathe much less vehicle exhaust fumes, reducing the likelihood of an acute reaction to COVID-19 leading to a need for the ICU.
Perhaps it’s not the social distancing, but the reduction of exposure to aerosolized glyphosate, that’s reducing the spread of infection? [37].
Why no COVID-19 in Bhutan?
Bhutan is a landlocked country in the East Himalayas, bordered by Tibet and India. The population of Bhutan is a little over 807,000 people.
As of this writing in early April 2020, Bhutan has reported only four cases of COVID-19, two of whom were visiting foreigners.
Bhutan has embraced the ambitious goal of becoming the world’s first 100% organic nation [38]. Is it possible that there is so little COVID-19 because Bhutan’s people aren’t being over-exposed to glyphosate?
Glyphosate and COVID-19: putting it all together
The United States has stood out as the country hit the hardest by COVID-19. We also consume more glyphosate per capita than any other country in the world. It will be a tragic irony if it turns out that our attempts to reduce carbon emissions through the use of extracts from glyphosate-exposed food crops and trees as a source of fuel in cars, trucks, buses, ships, airplanes—and as heating oil for buildings—turn out to be one of the primary causes of the COVID-19 epidemic.
I cannot claim to have proven that glyphosate is causing the weakened immune system and lung damage that sets up a susceptibility to an acute response to COVID-19. Science is a process of inquiry and we must keep inquiring. However, the circumstantial evidence is compelling and we must insist on more research. I hope I will inspire scientific researchers who have the necessary skills to further explore this hypothesis.

Hi Joanie, thanks for asking. There is work to be done on the micro and the macro levels. One thing you can do is share this article with your friends and family on social media and via email. Another local action you can take is to lobby all of the grocery stores in your area and tell them about your concerns. You could print this article out and take it to store managers. Ask them to start buying more organic food, and to make that organic food AFFORDABLE. We also highly recommend you join MOMS ACROSS AMERICA. They are doing outstanding work and activism on the national level. I’m sorry to hear that your children have suffered from glyphosate exposure. Thank you for being concerned.

this really struck me as i remembered talking to a farmer who i sent a letter to a few years ago. i had read some testimony in a news article where he said that he stopped feeding a few of his pig sow houses GMO food…and switched to non-gmo as a ‘joke’ to prove that gmo food was fine. however, his entire farm now uses non-gmo feed becuase he said that literally overnight, the respiratory issues in his pigs went WAY down. if you read the article above by Seneff, you will understand why. i was absolutely puzzled why going non-gmo in feed would have anything to do with respiratory illness….now years later i see a plausible reason

I would like to communicate with Stephanie about her work. She is looking for what is causing the Autism in children and I know the answer. The way 2,4,-D was made was changed by DOW Chemicals in 1958. Instead of filtering out the deadly dioxins like 2,3,7,8,tetrachlorodibenzo-p-dioxin they left them in to do more damage in war. Nobody told the Regulators of these chemicals of the change so that it wasn’t included in food crops. As this chemicals main use is in weed control for sugarcane it has bioaccumulated the 2,3,7,8,TCDD into all the sugar around the world.
The result is most children are exposed to this sugar in their diet before they are old enough to diagnose whether they have Autism or not. By the time the children are old enough they have been exposed to this chemical through the sugar that badly that some will definitely be suffering Autism and the other 250 Neurological deformities this chemical exposure will cause.
The glyphosate she is studying magnifies the effect of the 2,3,7,8,-TCDD in the human body and it’s effects on the vital organs but it isn’t the chemical causing the Autism. It is just helping this chemical gain access to the vital organs in the human body. She would not be aware of the 2,3,7,8,TCDD in all sugar throughout the world. Could you please let her know these extremely important facts.
I would like to give her the peer reviewed details of all of this.

Extracts from glyphosate-exposed food crops and trees as a source of fuel in cars, trucks, buses, ships, airplanes—and as heating oil for buildings—turn out to be one of the primary causes of the COVID-19 epidemic.

The train burns diesel fuel to drive electric generators that power the train. Diesel fuel is a distillate of crude oil and contains no glyphosate. IF there is glyphosate coming from the railroad it is being sprayed to control weeds along the tracks.
Robert says
Biodiesel derived from seed oils contains glyphosate. If trains burn any biodiesel, they are putting glyphosate into the atmosphere.
Chaim G says
That may be true in the combustion but not all of the fuel is combusted especially in diesel.
Stephanie Seneff says
Thanks for this, and I agree. I think it is striking that many of the “preconditions” that increase risk to COVID-19 are diseases and conditions whose prevalence is going up exactly in step with the rise in glyphosate usage on core crops. I think prior glyphosate burden FROM ANY SOURCE is a significant “risk factor” for bad outcome in COVID-19.
I had been assuming that combustion would completely remove the glyphosate from the exhaust fumes, which does seem plausible. However, glyphosate coming from protein would likely be embedded in the peptide chain, which would mean a more complex sequence of reactions needed in order to remove it. (First separate it from the peptide chain, then break it down through combustion). There are plenty of chances for fumes to emerge prior to combustion, certainly for example on the barge carrying the biomass, at the gas tank, or in the facilities where the biodiesel is being manufactured or when it is being transferred into a holding tank. They have developed enzyme-based methods to convert biomass to fuel that do not involve high temperatures. The C-P bond in glyphosate is a challenge to most microbes. Finally, it is clear that there are complex organic molecules still remaining in the particulate matter in the exhaust fumes, and I don’t see how we can exclude the possibility that some glyphosate gets taken up into the particulate matter – when an engine is old and out-of-tune.
https://www.sciencedirect.com/topics/earth-and-planetary-sciences/particulate-matter
“Particulate matter is a mixture of particles and droplets in the air, consisting of a variety of components such as ORGANIC COMPOUNDS, metals, acids, soil, and dust (US Environmental Protection Agency, 1996; Ciencewicki and Jaspers, 2007).”
Bob McNullen says
Biodiesel is really not used much as it is more expensive than the petroleum distillate it is made to replace and has other drawbacks as well. A much greater chance of exposure to glyphosate comes from your neighbors killing dandelions in the garden.

My heart just goes out to all of us, with our unavoidable exposure to this chemical, as well as so many others. My best friend died of cancer that she attributed to living beside strawberry fields growing up (she was one of the most stringent organic food folks that I ever knew in her adult life). I wish I had known what I know now about how to get it OUT of our bodies and support our gut and overall health. Activism is very important, eating organic and making it affordable is very important, AND I have found something shown to remove 74% of glyphosate from humans (in pre-clinical trials) in six weeks with no change in diet. THAT got my attention, bigtime! Full disclosure, now I work with the company that formulated this. How to get it to the people that need it is the biggest challenge. It has already made a big difference in so many folks’ lives. Gut health is key. Sending love and concern, and hope for us all. ~Mollie Curry

I was not previously aware of your article. It is fantastic! Thanks for pointing us to it. In particular, the idea of glyphosate exposure from weed management adjacent to highways is another thing to consider that is missing from my article.
Here are some intriguing quotes from your article that might entice others to look it up:
“For instance, a study reported significant neurologic and neurobehavioral developmental defects in children born to applicators of herbicide glyphosate (of organophosphorus family), with an OR of 3.6 (CI 1.3- 9.6), and particularly those children conceived in the spring [19].”
“We suggested that perhaps the application of chemicals on the shoulders of these interstate highways, solely or in tandem with other pollution could be responsible for this pattern.”
“It is reasonable to question whether folate and vitamin D deficiencies are not products of herbicide exposure along the major highways.”
I am also aware that there is a published paper linking autism to proximity to highways.
Kab says
Once upon a time, when i lived in Maui, a brilliant old chemist Bob Martin showed me some very convincing experiments that glyphosate can travel quite far in vapor form (after evaporating from ag applications) and recondense on morning dew droplets.
Perhaps there are more studies by now, vapor drift seems to be a real thing, and can carry this chemical quite far.

Stephanie Seneff says
I believe I have come upon something that may be highly significant re glyphosate, iron and COVID-19. I have read the preprint of the paper that proposed that the virus binds to hemoglobin, as well as a follow-on paper by another researcher who refuted the idea. It is clear that those who succumb to COVID-19 often have a runaway inflammatory response associated with the release of toxic iron from hemoglobin and the upregulation of ferritin to trap the iron. Inflammation induces increased expression of heme oxygenase-1 (HO-1), which normally would metabolize hemoglobin into biliverdin and carbon monoxide, releasing the iron as ferrous iron (Fe+2). However, there is a glycine residue in HO-1 at location 139 that is absolutely critical for its proper function. If it is replaced (through a genetic mutation) to almost anything else, the protein becomes pro-oxidant rather than anti-oxidant in its effects. It releases ferryl iron (Fe(IV)) which does not get taken up by ferritin. This form of iron is highly reactive and makes a mess out of the membrane lipids and DNA in conjunction with the reactive oxygen species released in response to the inflammation. Sadly, in this situation, inflammation induces HO-1 which induces inflammation in a positive feedback loop.

ATTENTION : Here is something ORGANIC PRODUCE CONSUMERS CAN DO EASILY >
I have been and continue to be an organic plum and apple fruit farmer for 40 years. What the average consumer can do to increase availability and lower organic FRESH PRODUCE PRICES by 50% is to advise your local , independent food grocer:
That you are WILLING to purchase ORGANIC produce that is ‘pretty-challenged ‘, cosmetically challenged if the store will price at 50% of normal organic price;
Of course, to be as nutritionally sound and flavorful as the normal priced ‘organic display- rack handsome’ .
The consumer chooses their price tier, 100 % or 50% levels.
This is the single most effective action you can take to increase availability and reduce costs on organic produce. You just talk to your produce people and they will tell you the same facts.
Fruit farmers on average unload ‘not-so-pretty’ fruit to food processors , IF they can find by a prayer a processor that will purchase the fruit, for 5-10 % of the retail price you pay for organic display rack produce. That is the reason organic produce is expensive . Most is ‘10% price sacrificed’ to processors or remains non-harvested in the fields in this 21 st century ‘tech-enlightened civilization’ . Most Farmers do not judge the current system equitable nor sustainable. john

It seems to me you have missed one needed point in making some connections. Where is the analysis of what Glyphosate breaks down into after being burned within internal combustion engines. Hard to gauge what dangers biofuels pose without that basic information.
Stephanie Seneff says
I think if it does get burned through combustion it breaks down into basic gases like nitrogen oxides and carbon oxides. I guess the phosphonate ion could be problematic – I have no idea about what happens to it. Biodiesel fuel has been shown to induce a higher inflammatory response in exposed animals than regular diesel, and it has also been shown to have much higher levels of nitrogen oxides and carbon monoxide, which are believed to be major components of the toxic elements in the exhaust fumes. These of course come from all the organic mass, particularly proteins (N), not just glyphosate. But I am most concerned about glyphosate getting released from the biodiesel fuel prior to combustion, along any of the stages of the transport, production and distribution, or burning in a poorly tuned engine.

Why is it so hard to believe, that it originated from eating weird wild animals…?
Ken Kaplan says
I’m agnostic on the article except that I find the hypothesis interesting but the article was not claiming glyphosate *originated* the disease, only that in areas where it is high, it might explain the destructive power of it .
Jeff M says
If that is the case then why are the infections not worse in the Midwest and the south where glyphosate is used at much higher volumes over many more years than through biofuel. I am not buying this hypothesis. Could it not simply be that people in metropolitan areas are not exposed to natural bacteria and viruses because they spend all their time indoors in a super sanitized environment.
Bob McNullen says
I agree with Jeff below. If glyphosate exposure worsens this disease then people in heavily farmed areas would have much higher incidence of severe cases. Jeff’s hypothesis seems more consistent with whats really going on.

I hope you look into the proliferation of poly ethylene glycol in foods and medicine over the past decades. PEG’s 4 metabolites destroy lung function, cause inflammation & also contribute to fatty liver disease. Pharmaceuticals have been poisoning people with slow release poly chains of ethylene glycol that slowly break down into chrystalized metabolites that destroy cell structure in all part of the body. Those symptoms are treated by ever increasing drugs laced with more PEG resulting in huge profits for big Pharma.
Adam Who says
Wow, lets break this argument down.
Quote: The United States has stood out as the country hit the hardest by COVID-19. We also consume more glyphosate per capita than any other country in the world.
* I don’t know if the claim is true that the US “consumes” more glyphosate per capita. Notice how they chose the word “consume” (to imply eating) rather than use? People do not consume glyphosate any more than they consume trace elements of uranium, arsenic… But if people did consume glyphosate, we actually have the MSDS for glyphosate and we know what the LD50 is… >5000mg/kg of body weight.
* There is no possible connection between this virus and a glyphosate. It isn’t even a correlation much less a causation. They operate in different biological kingdoms on different biological scales.
* If more Glyphosate equals more Covid19, then why are urban area rather than agricultural regions the center of the spread of the virus.
* The death rate per capita in the US is lower than MANY countries around the world where glyphosate isn’t used…. but you don’t see people making the insane suggestion that glyphosate prevents covid19.
Quote: It will be a tragic irony if it turns out that our attempts to reduce carbon emissions through the use of extracts from glyphosate-exposed food crops and trees as a source of fuel in cars, trucks, buses, ships, airplanes—and as heating oil for buildings—turn out to be one of the primary causes of the COVID-19 epidemic.
* I don’t even know what this sentence means…. Is she really saying that ethanol created from corn is a contributing factor in covid19? That is anti-scientific nonsense on so many levels.
* Lets take the most charitable interpretation first, that glyphosate use on crops increases its presence in the environment and this is a cause of COVID19. Again, if this were the case then agricultural workers and people in rural areas would be disproportionately effected by covid19. We would also see a lower death rate in countries that didn’t use it… but there isn’t even a correlation. Glyphosate doesn’t bio-accumulate either so this argument is totally bunk.
* Does the author actually believe there is high concentrations of glyphosate in wood people are using to burn to heat their houses? And that this glyphosate doesn’t breakdown over the period of time the wood is drying and then miraculously survives the burning process of the wood… and then is more toxic then using a wood fire stove?
* Assuming the worse interpretation. Does this author actually believe the chemical “glyphosate” survives the distillation process into ethanol? They seem to imply this…. hint, it cannot in decomposes at relatively low temperatures and certainly will not survive the processes of corn into ethanol. See chemical properties of glyphosate.
Quote: I cannot claim to have proven that glyphosate is causing the weakened immune system and lung damage that sets up a susceptibility to an acute response to COVID-19. Science is a process of inquiry and we must keep inquiring. However, the circumstantial evidence is compelling and more research is needed. I hope I will inspire scientific researchers who have the necessary skills to further explore this hypothesis.
The “just asking a question” tactic over every dishonest propagandist that ever existed.
There is no connection between glyphosate and “weakened immune system and lung damage”
There is no correlation between (much less causal relationship) glyphosate and death rate of covid19
There is no possible mechanism to glyphoste to be in ethanol.
There is no reputable scientific body who would support this dishonest and irresponsible claim made by the author
If people die because the irresponsible misinformation about COVID19 being promoted by this author or website they maybe be liable

This is why most people are Sick! –Glyphosate and of course all other chemicals widely dumped on the Earth, our one and only home! Chemicals are the biggest stocks in the land and the controllers of those stocks have no reason to stop using them, they have every reason to use more because they are only after more money! And, every person who buys products where these chemicals are used in the making of said products, or straight up buys these dangerous chemicals to use themselves, or owns stock in these chemical companies, are the cause of the death of themselves, all other humans, plants, animals, the ocean and ultimately the only planet we can call home! Period! Most people don’t even eat real food, they eat chemicals!

Stephanie Seneff says
Hi Adam:
I imagine you believe that glyphosate breaks down quickly and doesn’t accumulate in the food supply, in the soil, in the atmosphere and in the tissues, but if you looked at the published science you would see that in fact it does. The Canadian government has tested over 8000 different food samples and found remarkably high levels of glyphosate in many of them, such as lentils, chick peas, oats and wheat. The activist Tony Mitra published an entire book on their findings, titled “Poison Foods of North America.”
After writing this article, I came across a publication from 1998 which concerned a case study of a mechanic who decided to clean equipment used to spray glyphosate-based herbicide using diesel fuel as a cleaning agent. He developed a bad cough and started coughing up blood, and was rushed to the hospital. Fortunately, he survived, but the diagnosis was pneumonitis, and clinicians are today finding that the effect of COVID-19 on the lungs looks more like pneumonitis than like pneumonia.
Here’s the study:
Pushnoy LA, Avnon LS, Carel RS. Herbicide (Roundup) pneumonitis. Chest. 1998 Dec;114(6):1769-71.
Fortuitously, the New York Times posted an article on April 7 titled:
“New Research Links Air Pollution to Higher Coronavirus Death Rates.”
https://www.nytimes.com/2020/04/07/climate/air-pollution-coronavirus-covid.html
They quoted the authors of a paper analyzing correlations as follows:
“The results of this paper suggest that long-term exposure to air pollution increases vulnerability to experiencing the most severe Covid-19 outcomes.”
You didn’t read the article very carefully, because I was specifically saying glyphosate contamination in diesel fuel, not in ethanol, although I am concerned about glyphosate in ethanol added to gasoline. I highly suspect that, like POEA (polyethoxylated tallow amine, an additive in formulations used to enhance glyphosate’s effects on the weeds), diesel fuel has ingredients that enhance the uptake of glyphosate by the cells. The critical point I’m making is that it might be very dangerous to breathe the exhaust fumes of vehicles where glyphosate is present in diesel fuel.
Diesel fuel by itself is already much more toxic than gasoline:
Irina N. Krivoshto et al. The Toxicity of Diesel Exhaust: Implications for Primary Care. JABFM January–February 2008; 21(1): 55-62.
I do highly suspect that glyphosate is present in the ethanol in gasoline, and that may also be a problem, although the epidemiology points more directly to the biodiesel fuel. Glyphosate has been found to be a widespread contaminant in beer and wine by multiple researchers.
You may think, as many do, that glyphosate is harmless to humans. More and more papers are coming out in the last few years showing otherwise.
We are all struggling to understand what is going on with COVID-19. If we don’t ask the right questions, we will never figure it out. Time is short.

In a study led by Belisle and colleagues, IL-1R and TNFR KO mice infected with the 1918 virus showed a protective role for IL-1α, while TNF exerted adverse cytokine storm effects. In the absence of TNF, mice showed an increase in survival that was associated with a decrease in IFN-signaling-related antiviral gene expression.
Although its precise etiology is still unknown, the pro-inflammatory cytokines, such as tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α), interleukin (IL)-1β, IL-17, and more recently IL-23, have been shown to be critical mediators in the inflammatory process .
The secretion of large quantities of chemokines and cytokines (IL‐1, IL‐6, IL‐8, IL‐21, TNF‐β, and MCP‐1) is promoted in infected cells in response to CoV infection. These chemokines and cytokines, in turn, recruit lymphocytes and leukocytes to the site of infection.

This researcher should know about Dr. Klinghardt at the Klinghardt Institute, if she doesn’t already. For more than 20 years, he’s been studying glyphosate’s interaction with aluminum in the blood when exposed to specific EMFs. At a molecular level, apparently, these chemicals and frequencies may interact to cause or trigger cytokine storms.
Stephanie Seneff says
Indeed. I have tremendous respect for Dr. Klinghardt. I was the one who introduced him to glyphosate when I presented a one-hour presentation on it at a workshop he hosted several years ago. I also published a paper in 2014, together with Chen Li and Nancy Swanson, proposing that glyphosate transports aluminum to the brainstem nuclei, damaging, among other things, the pineal gland. The paper was titled, “Aluminum and Glyphosate Can Synergistically Induce Pineal Gland Pathology: Connection to Gut Dysbiosis and Neurological Disease.”
John Hopkins says
Hey Dr. Seneff! What are your thoughts on this article by Robin Mesnage and Michael Antoniou?
“Although evidence exists that glyphosate-based herbicides are toxic below regulatory set safety limits, the arguments of Samsel and Seneff largely serve to distract rather than to give a rational direction to much needed future research investigating the toxicity of these pesticides, especially at levels of ingestion that are typical for human populations.”

Stephanie Seneff says
I thought their arguments were weak and unconvincing, but, of course I’m biased.
I am more interested in the other article that these two coauthored where they claimed that their study showed that glyphosate does not substitute for glycine during protein synthesis.
https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/31395095
That article was absolutely fascinating to me, because they FOUND evidence of glyphosate substitution in 15 different human proteins, and they revealed a technique for finding glyphosate-substituted proteins that I was not previously aware of. I published a rebuttal on my web site at MIT:
http://people.csail.mit.edu/seneff/does_glyphosate_substitute.html
I would love to see somebody else repeat their experiment using the same technology to analyze collagen produced by fibroblasts grown in culture, or some such.
As a bonus, their article also showed that the so-called “exposed” cells overproduced two proteins that are strongly upregulated in breast cancer cells and associated with bad outcomes.
Michael Deyholos says

However, the completely ludicrous jumps in logic the author makes are astounding. The entire first part linking waterways with Corona are a farce. Most cities are built on bodies of water or rivers, and highways run everywhere. There is so much speculation and ennuendo that it shames the scientific studies referenced.
I just have a BS in microbiology, but it is clear to me that this article is ridiculous. I would expect this type of thing from Mr. Trump.
Stephanie Seneff says
You have a right to your opinion, but I hope this article will inspire you to investigate for yourself and learn more about glyphosate. Many people are waking up to the fact that it is far more toxic to humans than we have been led to believe. If we don’t ask the right questions, we won’t find the answers.
There has been a huge increase in the number of papers published over the past decade or two on gut dysbiosis. A major factor in gut dysbiosis is glyphosate’s toxic effects on our beneficial bacteria.
Laura says
Dr. Seneff:
Thank you for publishing this research, it is critical information for us families to have, given Covid-19.
You stated:
“There has been a huge increase in the number of papers published over the past decade or two on gut dysbiosis. A major factor in gut dysbiosis is glyphosate’s toxic effects on our beneficial bacteria.”
We have been following an organic, Paleo/Ancestral diet for many years, and actively do our own home fermenting, in an effort to continually seed our gut biome with beneficial bacteria, at every meal.
Could you please provide the best articles/research, of which you are aware, re. beneficial bacteria and building a resilient gut biome and consequent strong immune system?
Is there any research going on (nationally & internationally) re. strong, resilient gut biomes and resistance to Covid-19 infection, of which you are aware?
It is unfortunate that the current, national approach to protecting yourself from Covid-19 is limited to waiting for a vaccine or another new pharmaceutical (as well as social distancing and hand-washing/masks), when there are many, many things one can do to protect and boost one’s own immunity at every single meal: a possible firewall to Covid-19 infection.
I think one of the KEY things is to support the symbiotic bacteria (within us all) and protect those colonies in the gut, and elsewhere in the human body.
Eating organic food is essential to providing that protection. Toxic pesticides, and chemicals like glyphosate, utterly destroy our families’ abilities to eat clean, healthy, nutrient-rich food and, as well, they destroy the soil, air and ecosystem for generations to come, as you stated.
Dr. Seneff, we are beekeepers using organic methods in hive management, and we can assert that colony collapse disorder (CCD) is being caused not only by the systemic neonicotinoid pesticides (Rachel Carson warned us about systemic pesticides like DDT; systemic neonics are thousands of times more potent than DDT), but also by the enormous amounts of additional pesticides our pollinators are exposed to, every single run from the hive to flowers, and back.
See the research of Dr. Chengsheng Lu from Harvard, who worked directly with Massachusetts beekeepers to gather data re. the toxicity of neonics to bee colonies. Tracy Frisch, an independent, upstate New York journalist, has extensively covered both Dr. Lu’s work, other beekeepers’ experiences, and the alarming dying-off of our honey bees & pollinators.
There is now evidence that these systemic – and other – pesticides are not only disrupting the neural/brain function of bees, but that they are also destroying the beneficial bacteria in the guts of the bees. Given that bees use their inherent bacteria to ferment their own hives’ foods (nectar to honey, pollen to “bee-bread’, water to fermented water), the continued destruction of the beneficial bacteria which bees rely upon to survive – BY PESTICIDES LIKE NEONICS AND GLYPHOSATE – will doom the species… …if we don’t change course and absolutely eliminate these toxic chemicals from our ecosystem and farming practices.
We beekeepers are frightened by the fact that it is now industry-standard in the US to grow plant seedlings from neonic-coated seeds; the nectar and pollen these neonic-factory-plants produce, when mature, assure that bees will have continued, daily pesticide exposure in urban & suburban backyard gardens, all summer long!
Unless you buy organic vegetable, annual, perennial and heirloom plant seedlings & plants – and save your own seeds – you, the homeowner/gardener have (unknowingly) become part of the neonic-reason why our pollinators and honey bees are dying.
Therefore, your hypothesis that high glyphosate exposure may be related to large Covid-19 outbreaks is absolutely believable by me. This deserves careful, continued, immediate research.
Please see the work of Dr. Chris Masterjohn, a PhD in nutritional science, who is actively following worldwide Covid-19 research and advising on “so-called natural” ways to protect health and immunity. He provides regular updates as to vitamins, minerals, food, etc. to utilize to protect & guard one’s own immunity, in addition to self-quarantine & hand-washing/masks.
We are also following the advice of the “Orthomolecular MDs” (Dr. Linus Pauling coined the term “orthomolecular”) re. vitamins & minerals to boost right now. These MDs are tracking the worldwide usage of IV vitamin C as a successful treatment for Covid-19, including in places like China, Shanghai and NYC.
Your thoughts on the best articles/research re. building a strong gut biome and, as well, any research going on (nationally & internationally) re. the effects of a strong, resilient, symbiotic gut biome as it relates to resistance to Covid-19 infection, would be most appreciated.
Thank you for your great work and for the courage to publish it.
Cheryl Hillier says
Gut dysbiosis results from soil dysbiosis; diversity is everything.
Glyphosates are also antibiotics, and have been proven to harm gut function in rats and bees… never mind the direct impacts that glyphosates have on liver function, impairing gut function will have far reaching impacts on every aspect of health. Glyphosates are endemic in our food system, it stands to reason that if underlying health conditions predispose people to death from Covid, that our food system is causing unnecessary deaths. Removing glyphosates would save lives and untold misery from ALL the diseases that currently afflict us.
THE GUT/SOIL ANALOGY
Only 10% of our cells are human, the rest are bacteria.
Doctors are only just beginning to understand our symbiotic relationship with bacteria; how important our gut biome is to health.
Most people accept now, that routine antibiotics are a terrible thing.
We are scared of the diseases they encourage, like MRSA and bird flu which have been traced to intensive farming methods.
So we should be equally scared when our immunity is also reduced by antibiotics, interrupting our own living mechanisms.
The underground network described in the blockbuster film Avatar… it’s all true;
Our soil is very much a living thing too.
The complex interactions of soil microbes with plants cannot be underestimated; yet like our guts, we continue to swamp the soil with artificial food that interferes with the natural uptake of nutrients, and bombard with chemicals in an increasing spiral of warfare upon the natural balance that would protect ourselves and the soil without any help at all.
Slowly we are becoming aware of the importance to health of what we eat, and how it is grown; ‘You are what you eat’ is the same in every language.
Agrochemical and pharmaceutical industries now benefit from an absurd loop which keeps us continuously dependent on their chemicals to artificially maintain a semblance of ‘health’ that is wholly unsustainable and inevitably increases sickness levels, NHS costs, and now challenges our very existence on the planet.
The true cost to everyone of using these chemicals is devastatingly incalculable. Farming profit margins are so tight anyway, can any of us afford the continuing costs of reckless chemical use?
COVID19 THE REAL CURE.
From a New Scientist article;
Researchers identified altered gut bacteria profiles, characterised by large numbers of harmful bacteria and depletion of beneficial ones which persisted ‘even after the virus had been cleared from the body.’
The extraordinary assumption here was that Coronavirus’s alter the gut biome, and not that gut dysbiosis predisposes people to disease, and thwarts recovery.
Covid19 is the most impressive example yet of our failure to support health and resilience through appalling ignorance of natural systems, arrogance and greed. Exploiting natural riches whilst poisoning the source, unleashing chemicals and waste products, never once accounting for the true cost to our health, our diversity, our planet, our very existence.
‘Without diversity there is no health’; creating monocultures where pests and diseases thrive, our food system is both ‘the basis of chronic diseases and the emergence of new diseases’ Dr Vandana Shiva’s ‘Poison Cartel’ really does have a strangle hold on us.
Health is more deeply dependent on the soil biome than anyone seems prepared to admit. Patrick Holden and Dr Vandana Shiva are notable exceptions.
Fortunately for us, regenerative agriculture is the only sector capable of drawing down carbon AT SCALE, SIMPLY, AT LOW COST, and EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY. What are we waiting for??
Patrick Holden; “The state of vitality in human beings is connected directly to the food we eat. If we are to strengthen our immune systems against future potential pandemic threats, then our farming systems need to be built upon the principle of positive health in the plants and animals under our care, as opposed to the artificial stimulation of growth and the suppression of disease through chemistry, which characterises so much of our food production today.”

I have one problem with this analysis.
“Glyphosate is ubiquitous: it’s not only a major contaminant in food, but it’s also been found in soil, rivers, lakes, streams, and groundwater, and in blood, urine, and breast milk. It’s in rain and in the air and in lung tissue. The ubiquitous presence of glyphosate is a major threat to human health.”
If it is “ubiquitous”, in the atmosphere, rain, air and soil, then organic, certified or otherwise, is meaningless. except that there may be marginally lower levels of glyphosate in organic food but not non-existent levels.
There is no such thing as truly “organic”. Organic farmers cannot keep glyphosate contaminated rain and air from falling on their crops. Not can they pump glyphosate free ground water from wells to water them if glyphosate is in the ground and therefore teh groundwater.
I am not trying to dissuade anyone from eating organic, but if you think it makes you safe from glyphosate you are kidding yourself.
Biodynamic Barb says
You are correct. “Organic” is not as clean as people think it is, but it is cleaner than conventional, and there is significantly less glyphosate because the plants are not drenched in it.
Excluding glyphosate, many of the other products allowed in organic agriculture are not safe. If you want food that is cleaner and healthier than organic, then search out Biodynamic.
Biodynamic agriculture uses NO chemicals, the certification process inspects the water and the air, and their methods IMPROVE the quality of the soil rather than deplete it. You will not find biodynamic crops grown in a polluted environment, as some organic crops are.
You are also correct in that we cannot escape glyphosate, or the other junk in our air, but we can limit how much our bodies are exposed by controlling those things under our control, like our food and the products we use in our homes. You can also help your body detox those substances if you are exposed to them.
And, finally, no, I am not a biodynamic farmer. I am an individual who has determined it’s the healthiest food available both for myself and for the planet.
John Hopkins says
Eating organic doesn’t lower your glyphosate intake.
“No difference was found in urine glyphosate and AMPA concentrations between subjects consuming organic compared with conventionally grown foods or between women living on or near a farm/ranch and those living in an urban or suburban nonfarming area.” (https://academic.oup.com/ajcn/article/103/5/1285/4633910)

Biodynamic Barb says
Have you read the book, “Bending Science: How Public Interests Corrupt Public Health Research”? Studies can be constructed to show whatever the conventional farmers association requests.
Here’s a study conducted by the Environmental Working Group: https://www.cornucopia.org/2018/08/nonprofit-finds-glyphosate-in-cereal-and-snack-bars/ “In its testing, the EWG tested 45 samples of conventionally grown oats and 16 of organically grown oats. In 43 of the 45 conventional cases, it detected glyphosate. And in 31 of those cases, glyphosate levels were above the organization’s health benchmark of 160 parts per billion. On the organic side, just five products were discovered to have had Glyphosate and none of them reached the 160ppb benchmark.

Stephanie, can you explain why COVID-19 has suddenly appeared, since we’ve been living with glyphosate for so long? What tipped the scales?
Stephanie Seneff says
What I am suggesting in this article is that the recent rise in the use of technology to convert glyphosate-contaminated food derivatives into biofuels such as biodiesel has caused a great increase in the number of people who are regularly inhaling glyphosate mixed with toxic fumes from diesel engines, which is then injuring their lungs in such a way that a simple viral infection causes a life-threatening acute reaction.
I have also been reading about links between the roll-out of 5G, so that is something else that I am considering. More research is needed.

For about 17 years I lived in a very metropolitan area (Phoenix, AZ) and most of that within 1/4 mile from a major highway. However, 13 years ago we moved to a very rural area in northern Arizona. My question is, do our lungs improve with less exposure? After a few years we did notice we have more trouble breathing when we go to Phoenix. Thankfully we don’t do that but 1 or 2 times a year. There isn’t much agriculture in our area, mostly horses and cattle. We have a well, and while some have trouble with arsenic (thanks to mining), our water is fine. But mostly I was wondering if the lung issue can recover.
Stephanie Seneff says
Unfortunately, I don’t know the answer to your question, but I would think that, with less exposure to glyphosate, the cells would be able to synthesize healthy versions of the proteins that help the immune system fight off disease. This would lead to a stronger innate immune system and a decreased likelihood of infection.

A century of monocrop farming and reliance on pesticides has damaged our nation’s once-fertile soils and the health of every American. The rapid increase in pesticide use over the past few decades has coincided with this explosion of chronic disease.
A profound change in the demographics of chronic disease is underway in the United States. Independent research from private laboratories and universities around the world, are implicating glyphosate – the active ingredient in the herbicide Roundup.

Interesting that Stephanie made a possible connection to 5G and Covid-19. Apparently a massive amount of 5G towers were installed in the Wuhan region shortly before the breakout. I have no idea why she didn’t do a little footwork and see if any of the 15,000 or so people with coronavirus in *her* town weren’t up to their necks in RoundUp, or biofuel exhausts. Or why she didn’t mention RoundUp runoff in the Charles River (which literally runs past MIT!) as a cause for the major outbreaks in the greater Boston area.
Because I promise that if the Mar family died because of residual RoundUp from car exhausts a quarter mile away there should be tens of thousands of dead in Boston and hundreds of thousands sick.
As I said up in item #1, above, I’d like to see RoundUp pulled from the market. I don’t think it’s safe either for individuals or the environment. But because of that I’m really not comfortable with people basically pulling stuff out of their ##!%es and hoping everyone will be impressed when they see “MIT” and “PhD” and not ask “PhD in what, exactly?”
Here’s a shorter way of saying all of the above: Stop. Making. Serious. Opponents. Of. Glyphosates. Look. Stupid. Oh, and leave my neighbors out of it.
P.S. I actually *would* like to hear Dr. Seneff’s thoughts on the hypothesis that 5G cell towers either created SARS-CoVid-19, made humans susceptible to it, or whether the coronavirus uses or transmits 5G signals to target victims. Because a) that’s a “surprising hypothesis” that’s really caught fire in the EM-oh-sphere and b) Dr. Seneff’s background in electrical engineering and biophysics would give her considerable credibility on that topic.

Stephanie, I also would like your take on 5G, as well as your thoughts on solar radiation management and the affects of toxic chemicals sprayed into the atmosphere daily. Glyphosate is for sure a contributor to messed up immune systems.

Not everyone starts out in this world with fully working DNA to process and dispose of toxins as efficiently as the next person. And the older we get, the more damaged our DNA becomes. We also have a lot of other health issues, whatever you choose to attribute them to: genetics, epigenetics, toxic assault, negative emotions, poor nutrition, gut health in various states of disrepair, non-native EMF, etc. Then we have the bioweapon theory. ALL of these things could be at play simultanously in various groupings, in various places.

This is the best response Ive heard yet in these comments and its exactly what I have been thinking as the days go by and there is so much time to ponder. This world is becoming more and more toxic and more and more complex by the day. AND you are so right, not everyone comes into this world with the same constitutions. Some have weak lungs, others have weak livers, other weak kidneys – we are NOT all built the same and as we age, things start to go downhill. If you start with a regular virus and layer on all the toxic insults and then consider the diversity of populations and their health, you could clearly see why some and not others may fall very ill with regards to this virus. Its almost common sense….
Stephanie Seneff says
Whenever you develop a “connect-the-dots” theory, it requires considerable effort to gather evidence from diverse directions, and it requires considerable courage to put the idea “out there” and let people respond with criticisms. But if we don’t entertain these ideas, we will never find the truth.
From the New York Times:
“Orcas of the Pacific Northwest Are Starving and Disappearing”
https://www.nytimes.com/2018/07/09/science/orcas-whales-endangered.html
“Normally four or five calves would be born each year among this fairly unusual urban population of whales — pods named J, K and L. But most recently, the number of orcas here has dwindled to just 75, a 30-year low in what seems to be an inexorable, perplexing decline.”
Of course, the article is not suggesting that glyphosate is a culprit, since generally everybody thinks glyphosate is a benign chemical.
However, my understanding is that glyphosate-based Rodeo is commonly used along the coast and in the estuaries around Seattle to control Spartina (exotic smooth cordgrass), an invasive species. It’s specifically chosen because it is relatively “safe.”
I agree with you that Boston is poised to become a major hot spot as well. Boston is by no means a pristine city. The couple in Seattle made a good anecdotal story, but perhaps I should not have singled them out.
I am hesitant to claim a position on 5G because I have not done a sufficient amount of research on that topic. I have many friends who believe that 5G is a factor in the outbreak, and the evidence may be strong, but I remain agnostic. I do believe that glyphosate disturbs the electrical system in the body, and therefore it may be synergistically toxic with 5G.

When I was a child, our family would make a trip to visit a relative and we would have to drive by the Monsanto plant with their chimneys belching black stinky smoke into the sky. We would roll up our windows and try to hold our breath, but I would still feel ill to my stomach from the chemical stench. Even as a young child I wondered how this kind of thing would be allowed to go on day in and day out. I knew back then that people were going to be sick. The relative we were going to visit died of health issues in her fifties. She did not live far from that plant.

You should also consider, that glyphosate inhibits the production of vitamin D by blocking the enzyme P430. This causes vitamin D deficiencies in humans according to Wendy A. Morley and Stephanie Seneff, 2014. And according to hundreds of medical studies, a vitamin D deficiency leads to lung problems, to an increase in infections, to heart attacks and to flu. Another big long term study by public US authorities among people in the USA revealed that only 3-20% of the US residents have enough vitamin D (>30ng/ml) in their blood. Especially African-Americans and Hispanic people have up to 7times less vitamin D in their blood compared to caucasic citizans. (see: Vitamin D deficiency soars in the U.S., study says, by Jordan Lite in Scientific American). And now, African-Americans and Hispanic people do have a several times higher risk of dying from the Corona virus. Experts say, that it is due to their lower income, educational status and lack of access to health care. But nobody talks about Vitamin D deficiency and Glyphosate.
Another connection leads to antibiotics, because glyphosate is patented as an antibiotic like drug and studies prove that pesticides like glyphosate, dicamba and 2,4-D trigger antibiotic resistances.
And viruses, like Covid-19, are using these bacteria as hosts to spread the lungs, heart and other organs. If you need further infos, let me know.
Geraldine May says
I am willing to entertain the glyphosate idea but not in conjunction with the virus theory. Please refer to the recent videos of Andrew Kaufman, MD pertaining to recent research which has determined that a virus and an exosome are one and the same thing, a body produced by a cell to dissolve and remove toxins from the cell. Research pertaining to exosomes has been done by James Hildreth, a former Johns Hopkins full professor who now heads Mahery medical school. Dr. Kaufman, in one of his presentations, mentions this supposed viral illness being observed in an African country which, if I remember correctly, was Nigeria. The area had recently gone to using biofuels made from glyphosated corn which was then spewed into the air and making the people ill. The insult to the body of the aerodynamic glyphosate could itself be the cause of the illness being especially prevalent in the areas mentioned by Dr. Seneff for the reasons she mentions.
Stephanie Seneff says
Thank you for pointing out exosomes. I am reading papers on exosomes lately and I do think there’s an interesting connection between viruses and exosomes, to the extent that one might consider them to be closely related if not identically the same thing. A fascinating concept to imagine that exosomes might be shared not just among cells in the same organism but also from one person to another, if they were to be released into the airways by the lungs exposed to toxic chemicals. Perhaps biology is ripe for a revolution in thinking! Speculation alert!

After reading the 2nd sentence I cannot take anything seriously afterwards…
“Glyphosate, one of the most toxic chemicals in the world”
How do you ‘rate’ world-wide toxicity? How is glyphosate more toxic than Benzene, cis-Platin, Methanole, and probably a gazillion other substances?
And if you are only looking at the effect on respiratory system – how can you seriously point your finger at glyphosate, also as a part of E cigarettes effect – and not a single word about conventional smoking? Mind boggling at the least.
Stephanie Seneff says
Glyphosate is probably more pervasive in the environment than just about any other chemical, and it is carelessly used by people in their yards because they mistakenly think it is harmless to humans. There are other chemicals that are more acutely toxic, but they are much less pervasive and are applied with greater use of protective gear. Glyphosate’s mechanism of toxicity that I believe is causing so much destruction is unique to glyphosate. It is insidious and cumulative, and subtle because it takes time for you to notice the effects. There is very strong evidence from the existing research literature, including reports written by Monsanto’s own researchers, that glyphosate can mistakenly get incorporated into proteins in place of the coding amino acid glycine. If this is true, it has devastating consequences throughout the body and can easily explain the strong correlations we are seeing with the rise in glyphosate use and the rise in a long list of debilitating metabolic, neurological, oncological and autoimmune diseases. The Monsanto executives vehemently deny that this is possible, but I believe they know it is happening. Hopefully, someday, the truth will come out.

Laura says
I hope Dr Seneff will respond to the argument that glyphosate should be incinerated by at least one of the processes she describes (internal combustion engines). This is a basic point that deserves consideration.
Petet says
Very interesting hypothesis, I think there is connectivity. I have been deriding the use of glyphosate for years and associate many inexplicable marine animalies with crabs and lobsters with its use. I do have one question regarding transferral of glyphosate to biofuel exhaust. The combustion process is rather destructive and rapid oxidation changes molecules. The devil in combustion is the incomplete combustion products that are not oxidized fully. Does the glyphosate molecule survive combustion intact, or is the exhaust cycle glyphosate associated with products of incomplete combustion? Is glyphosate in a class with PFAS as “forever molecules”, virtually indestructible? If so, then , we shant expect to see it miraculously disappear from the hyrdologic cycle, the food cycle, the geologic cycle. We are stuck with it until a method of mitigation is derived. Thus, with your research and the correlation to disease, we shall continue to see an increase in the conditions you mentioned in this piece. I don’t expect much cooperation from the FDA, EPA, CDC, they have long resisted the push to ban glyphosate and hold Monsanto, now Bayer, accountable for the aftereffects of glyphosate use.

I was struck by the intense air pollution and particularly the sharp, penetrating effects of the car exhaust on my lungs and sinuses. I said to my friends, “The petrol in northern Italy is a special brew that burns right into your lungs.” Though the cities were so incredibly gorgeous, I couldn’t WAIT to get out of them so I could breathe! I hopped over to Portugal and felt better instantly, mostly because the density was less. I still noticed troubling car exhaust in the cities but not as caustic, it seemed. Thank you for this article.

Dear Dr Seneff,
I came across your article just prior to noticing more, the very high rates of CV-19 in my Iowa hometown of Fairfield’s neighboring Washington County, compared to our own Jefferson County (just South) and Johnson County (just North), and the questions you’ve presented inspired me to look more into that:
Covidactnow.org is predicting Washington County, IA will reach Hospital Overload in 3 days, on Tuesday 4/14, much earlier than surrounding counties:
https://covidactnow.org/us/ia/county/washington_county
Their metrics indicate Jefferson Co (Fairfield) isn’t due for overload until 5/29, and Johnson Co (Iowa City) won’t overload at any point. (I am guessing due to their very large hospital there in IC?) And Washington’s cases are disproportionately very high compared with Fairfield and Iowa City:
Johnson County Population: 149,210 / 194 Cases
Washington County Population: 22,281 / 79 Cases
Jefferson County Population: 18,422 / 4 Cases
https://www.arcgis.com/apps/opsdashboard/index.html#/d2cd69769dcf4289b48e075d767ec44f
So I’m wondering what’s causing cases in Washington to be so high? They have only a slightly higher population than ours, and 20x more cases. They had one of the first two Nursing Home outbreaks that’s affecting their situation, but there are many Nursing Homes in Iowa, so why Washington first? I know there are so many factors regarding cases and deaths ~ age, attribution of cause of death, population density, essential business, social distancing compliance, 5G exposure, the list goes on.
But the disparity between my own County and Washington really stood out to me, for a number of reasons. So I pulled up this US Biodiesel Activity map, and was struck to find that Washington, IA is on it’s short list of 22 U.S locations:
http://www.biodieselmagazine.com/articles/2516535/a-geospatial-view-of-biodiesel-activity
The following link also highlights that Cedar Rapids has far and above the highest Conventional Ethanol Production Capacity in our state: 700 MMgy (between 2 Cedar Rapids Biorefineries) vs. 180 MMgy in the next highest single location, in New Hampton, IA:
https://iowarfa.org/ethanol-center/ethanol-biorefineries/
I also noticed that a number of the Iowa Biorefineries are out in the middle of nowhere, where almost no one resides. But Washington’s COVID-19 rate, where Iowa Renewable Energy 30 MMgy facility is located), is unusually high compared to Jefferson & Johnson, despite Iowa City’s much more dense population. And Cedar Rapids cases are also strangely disproportionate compared to our similarly urban capital, Des Moines:
Linn County Population: 226,706 / 235 Cases
Polk County Population: 490,161 / 165 Cases
Please let me know your thoughts on this.
Biodynamic Barb says
Thank you for the links to those maps!
Stephanie Seneff says
Nice detective work! I think more people should be studying these patterns to see if they make sense in the context of what I am suggesting. I don’t know to what extent the plant itself is a primary factor in releasing toxic fumes during the processing of glyphosate-contaminated raw materials.
You provided a link to a useful map showing where these biodiesel plants are located. Many of them line up with COVID-19 hot spots, such as in New Orleans and New York City/New Jersey.

Yes, poor safety measures in meat packing plants now appears to be the main issue in several Iowa counties regarding their case counts and deaths, including/especially in Louisa County, which shares it’s full West border with Washington County. Though Washington cases were disproportionately high even before the Louis outbreak began, or was known. And who knows how much each factor affects CV-19 case count vs. deaths (+ disability/long term chronic disease), it will be very interesting to attempt to dissect all of the contributing factors over time.

Regarding the situation in New Orleans, you should be aware that the city draws its drinking water from the Mississippi River. They have done this for a very long time. The water taste so bad that those who can afford it, buy their drinking water primarily from Abita Springs north of Lake Pontchartrain. The draw from very good ground water aquifers. Also, New Orleans has always had exceptionally high lung cancer because of a high use of tobacco products.
Wendy Rutherford says
Hi! Very interesting read indeed. I did a presentation on Glyphosate in college for Environmental Science and it was at that time I discovered the horrors it was causing in Argenina. The pregnant women and their young children born with birth defects galore and the school aged kids playing during recess next to fields where they are spraying that garbage! The damage done is irreversible and Monsanto couldn’t care what happens to any of them! If you are not aware of this horror then I highly suggest you give it a bit of time to look it up. The links between Glyphosate and still births, birth defects, and miscarriages cannot be mistaken. Thank you for your research and I can definitely respect your position regarding the link between Glyphosate and Covid-19.
Wade Adams says
Regarding New Orleans, the city has always drawn its drinking water from the Mississippi River which contains runoff from the river and all its tributaries (about 1/3 of the US). Even though the water is treated, those who can afford it buy bottled water. Much of the bottles water comes from Abita Springs, La About 50 miles North of New Orleans. Those who cannot afford the spring water are left to drink the city water with whatever contaminates made it thru the treatment process.
Also, historically, New Orleans has always had an exceptionally high use of tobacco giving the city some of the highest lung cancer rates in the world.
Your hypothesis may be part of the link to understanding why 70% of the covid 19 deaths in Louisiana are African Americans who constitute about 30% of the state population.

Dr. Seneff,
I have suspected for several years that autism is connected to the use of glyphosate. It is good to see that research is pointing toward this strong possibility.
Thank you!
Cheryl Hillier says
I think autism is more to do with gut dysbiosis which glyphosates cause, so you wouldn’t be able to prove a direct link – as with the MMR vaccine – no direct causal link could be found, but researching in this way could never take account of pre-existing gut problems which were also thought at one point to be a contributing factor… a compromised immune system will predispose a child to many things, but the immune response to a triple whammy vaccination would push them over the edge.
Heidi Hackler says
THANK YOU, thank you, thank you so much for this research and article! I’ve been trying to avoid glyphosate for years. And as a holistic wellness blogger and coach have been advocating my readers and clients steer clear of it as well. But I’m gobsmacked, I had no idea of the aerosolized component from bio diesel fuel‘s. It makes perfect sense, I just never thought about that before. Keep up the fantastic work!
Besto Paever says
To say that there is a connection between locations where high rates of COVID-19 occur and bodies of water, and to further speculate that this connection shows that glyphosate has a role in causing COVID-19 are ridiculous assumptions. Cities have always been located near bodies of water, and since cities are more densely populated than rural areas (where most glyphosate is used, by the way) of course COVID-19 rates are higher in cities. We need smart people to use their resources to solve problems, not to waste their resources in a pathetic attempt to vent their preconceived personal hatred of Monsanto.
MCasey says
There is a connection between locations where high rates of COVID-19 occurred and bodies of water; regardless of any connection to glyphosate. Outbreaks are near areas with water, but not all areas near water had an outbreak. The most obvious illustration is the outbreaks on the cruise ships…and before you screech it; yes, they were in close quarters, but it still started on water. Do not be afraid.

Thank you for a fascinating article. I have been studying immune & gut health for personal reasons and had been considering if there might be links between organic diet and Covid 19. Denmark is a country aiming for 100% organic farming, as you probably know and they have low Covid 19 cases also.
Another factor I have considered is the link between eating cultured foods that boost immune health and low rates of Covid 19. Germany for example has a strong history of eating sauerkraut and there elderly population has been less infected that the younger generation. South Koreans eat a lot of Kimchee and they too have low Covid rates. A lot of emphasis is being placed on these countries having been better prepared but perhaps there are other more significant factors.
I am currently eating a ‘Trilogy’ of cultured foods, Fermented Vegetables, Kefir and Kombucha. As these powerful anti viral foods flood my gut, I have been experiencing an expected healing crisis. This Nutritionist and Author is a goldmine for information on cultured foods https://www.culturedfoodlife.com/anti-viral-cultured-foods/ The large amount of good bacteria in these foods is repopulating my gut and overpowering the bad bacteria, releasing toxins into my system. The bacteria from Kefir and Cultured veggies stay in the gut and populate, unlike yoghurt which although beneficial, the bacteria simply passes through. Once I have gone through the healing my gut will be in balance with more good bacteria than bad, which is what powers the immune system to kill off pathogens and fungus.
I had a massive amount of antibiotics as a child and in adulthood developed an auto-immune disorder of the thyroid, Hashimoto’s. Have you done any research on this area? People with immune disorder’s such as this suffer gut dysbiosis, their immune system is over active, damaging the thyroid.
It seems that focusing on a healthy gut and therefor a healthy immune system has to be the main approach to defending against these virus’ and living a long healthy life.
Would love to hear your thoughts on cultured foods and Hashimoto’s, Thanks, Helen

Hi! I truly appreciate the research, time, and effort put into this writing!!! I am wholeheartedly on board with your research on glyphosate. I have been researching the role of “vitamin” A in human health a lot lately, and have come across a lot of interesting studies purporting that VA may not be at all a vitamin, but a toxin—one that is insidious and chronically endemic in the US—also, it’s nefarious link to glyphosate—glyphosate “breaks“ the liver’s ability to detox vitamin A; hence, the accumulation of it in tissue (possibly a cause for fatty liver disease). Grant Genereux and Dr. Garrett Smith have been working together to research VA toxicity, and discussing the roles of glyphosate, and other detox pathway inhibitors in the pathology of diseases, both acute and chronic. I’d love to see some work out of MIT in the area, for sure!!! Again, thanks for the thoughtful work and effort put into this research.

I have for a number of years followed the glyphosate ordeal and its exponential use especially since the introduction of GMO crop seeds. When the GMO free labeling ‘wars’ started and then lost, I wondered whether it was a so-called ‘red herring’ when the real culprit behind the curtain was glyphosate. When I discovered glyphosate was used as a dry-down aid/ desiccant for small grains, ‘gluten-free’ labeling for small grains became a non sequitur relatively speaking.
GMO’s were introduced in the early 1990’s and glyphosate’s exponential use for now some 30 years all over the globe is now most likely everywhere and in everything and in everyone. Allowing its continued indiscriminate use even on all US household lawns and gardens only will allow it to be in more an more quantities everywhere, in everything and in everyone…
“GLYPHOSATE FREE” should be our label of choice!

Dr Seneff, Thank you so much for your insights, scientific research, facts and hypotheses. Your work is brilliant. Just for the record, every lecture I have heard from Dr Klinghardt whether a podcast or in person, he always has high praise for your groundbreaking research. Anyone who questions this very odd pandemic and the cast of characters from Gates to Fauci is attacked if discussing facts or science that doesn’t promote a vaccine. I was taught that epidemiology only works with facts. However, we are supposed to trust government agencies who have been caught red handed manipulating and concealing data such as annual Influenza cases and autism causation as evidenced by the whistleblower Thompson. The CDC is a captured agency. It seems there is ample money available to pay for professional trolls whose motives I find questionable. I don’t believe that just because a chemical compound enters a combustion chamber that it is destroyed. Many are aware of the phenomenon of unburned fuel to some degree can be found in the exhaust of the combustion engine. Also, Dr Martin Pall’s work has demonstrated the severe health effects of 2g,3g and 4g and we have the NTP studies. ALL of these insults on our health would logically be contributing to the mortality and morbidity of covid19.
Tad Montgomery says
Great piece! Thanks, Jennifer. I haven’t read all the posts above, so don’t know if this has been covered, but I have a couple questions:
1) Does Glyphosate remain intact through the combustion process? I am dubious.
2) If it does remain intact, what are the relative amounts ingested by people living near highways breathing it in vs. taking it in through their diet?
3) Could impaired immune systems from breathing exhaust not lead to greater susceptibility to severe Coronavirus reactions?
It seem that a simple study could be conducted of Coronavirus patients who have eater organic vs. conventional diets.

Hi- it’s rare to find such an article linking “this to that to this to that.” Congrats and t y! Plus the comments are fascinating including those to the contrary. I myself wrote a book titled “The Conspiracy Theory Diet,” similar in scope, and another on human parasites, as I have been a professional colon hygienist the past 20 years. Glyphosate is merely ONE domino to fall in weakened immunity leading to diagnosis of illness. The progression began long ago, if we read Weston Price. In 1900, U.S. cancer mortality just 4.5%, now 33%; digestive disorders such as diverticulitis 10% in 1900 over age 45, FIFTY % today. Diabetes, obesity, etc. up, up, up. The missing piece here is appreciating declines in internal organ functions due to human exposure to OIL soluble molecules in air, food, water etc. The human liver filters and bears the brunt of these poisons which in turn, reduces BILE flow, which destroys normal digestion, assimilation, and elimination. This impairs colon health in more ways than I can list, including micro flora and immunity. My book traced another farm product, Bud Nip, used on all nonorganic potatoes, tomatoes, tobacco, blueberries and many more, as a preservative. Plus, read Stephen Fried’s book “Bitter Pills” to appreciate COMBINATIONS of chemical accumulation in the human, so glyphosate mixes with the many other molecules to become additional poisons we can’t predict. But! Factor “declines in systemic organ function” tied to all metabolic processes with dramatic increases in ACIDITY (100X), antibiotics in meat and yes, salad mixes (chlorine), fungal and parasitic overgrowth, low fat digestion, improper fat intake in general, chronic constipation, cascading of drug prescription, dehydration, low energy, brain fog, Teflon and plastic in lymph, PLUS glyphosate, plus about 69 Bill Gates vaccinations, plus Covid 19, now the map includes ALL the U.S. like a mushroom cloud bullseye of the planet where health care is 3X the planet average costs and the lowest in longevity by far. Speaking of Dr. Klinghardt, he acknowledges that Lyme bacteria may ride shotgun with a LARGER parasite and I believe the Corona virus does too, totally common to happen in nature. It’s Covid-19 PLUS some other worm in overgrowth due to heavy metal exposures off the chart. So- to your friends here who disagree with your particulars, FINE, be that way, it’s actually far worse than your article describes! ?

What a great article on the possible connection of glyphosphate and COVID-19. One of the things that you stated was… “I believe the answer may lie in the state of health of the person’s innate immune system.” Bingo! As a chiropractic physician, I have always felt that optimal health comes from having an optimally functioning immune system. Since our immune system is ultimately controlled by our nervous system, anything interfering with that process has the potential in creating a less than desirable response. Having been in practice for 25 years, I have witnessed the power of removing physical interference to the nervous system and thus allowing the body’s innate ability to function the way it was designed… to keep us healthy! It’s very refreshing to read that connection about the innate immune system in this article. Thank you!

Then to add insult to injury you do address the linkage of your prime suspect in the form of glyphosate, (certainly poison so no disagreement there), with vaccines, but only here in the comment section where it will not be seen or taken into account by those that read your article.
We all know why you feel you must do this which is to protect your reputation because it’s certainly true that no matter how many letters you have behind your name and no matter what fancy school bestowed them upon you, the “community” will ruin you over night if you were to tell the truth.
Your choices are to play it safe and skirt arranges the edges to protect your own interest, or, to tell the truth and actually help children and others come what may.
I hope you will choose wisely and tell the truth. Humanity needs you.

FROM THE LEGENDARY ANTI-PESTICIDE ACTIVIST, CAROL VAN STRUM:
I think Seneff makes some good points, but since there are so many uses of glyphosate and routes of exposure — in addition to food/agriculture, almost all roadsides, bus stops, railroad rights-of-way, powerline rights-of-way, ball fields, parks, lawn products, aerial spraying of millions of acres of forests, etc. — there is simply no way to pinpoint one particular source, and compared just to the use on roadsides, which is intensive, the traces left in ethanol exhaust would be neglible. And though glyphosate exposure may make people more susceptible to infection, without actual data showing higher levels in human tissues in the cities mentioned, I don’t think it can account for the so-called “hot spots” described in the article because it’s everywhere.
Kevin Van Dorn says
Excellent read. Since there is quite a bit of overlap between glyphosate and seed oil consumption in our processed foods, could the fact that seed oils (PUFA’s) are made rancid by applying extreme heat, purging with hexane and deodorizing with bleach be enough to wreck are immune system alone? Combining this with glyphosate would seem to be adding fuel to the fire.

Should not the logical conclusion be that we stop using glyphosate ? then the quest for cleaner emissions can still carry on. Im not a fan of glyphosate to begin with mind you and i feel it should be gone for good even last year should have been gone for good. Maybe this can help accomplish that.
AN says
Should not the logical conclusion be that we just stop eating food? Glyphosate is the safest and most effective form of herbicide used in the world. It is much safer than all of its herbicide alternatives and literally helps feed the world. Getting rid of glyphosate use entirely would have a greater effect on the world than the COVID-19 pandemic is currently having.

We were eating food long before glyphosate came along.
The logical conclusion is organic agriculture, which is what we had

Studies show that the use of herbicides has actually decreased food production. Those who have gone back to organic farming have seen much higher yields and less cost to them. Also Monsanto products are destroying the life of those who use them. They are not safe by any measure.
Arkansas farmers Chappell and his brother Seth took a leap of faith in 2010, and changed the family farm to using cover crops for weed control instead of tillage and herbicides, he said. It was a leap that neither knew would end up well, but was forced upon them by Mother Nature, economics and the highly prolific glyphosate-resistant Palmer amaranth.

Miriam my daughter was playing Music in New Orleans came home with a high fever took a hot bath and used the Zapper, next morning the fever was gone. Two days later the mucus was gone! A comment from a reader: I really liked your article and it made some good sense. This part really got my attention: “Collectively, our results showed that mice continuously exposed to glyphosate developed elevated levels of eosinophils, neutrophils, and asthma-related cytokines (IL-5, IL-10, IL-13, IL-33, TSLP) compared to control groups. Exposure to glyphosate results in airway barrier damage.” [15, my emphasis]”
Have you attempted to correlate glyphosate to Eosinophilic esophagitis (EE)? It’s when Eosinophils, a type of white blood cell, cause an allergic inflammatory response in the esophagus. I had 6+ months of studies done on me and at the end of the day the allergists at Stanford told me that evidence shows that if I stop eating wheat/gluten and dairy, that would solve for ~85% of my issue. It basically has done just that. They have no idea why this is the case and there has to be a deeper reason.
This EE disease was first seen and diagnosed only 20 years ago. It’s been growing exponentially since. Here are two links.
1) https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/eosinophilic-esophagitis/symptoms-causes/syc-20372197
2) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eosinophilic_esophagitis
Wondering if there is any correlation here to glyphosate or if you have heard of other cases like this?
Dr. Stephanie Seneff responds:
Yes. I noticed eosinophilic esophagitis several years back and immediately suspected that glyphosate was causing it.
Anthony Samsel and I speculated about this possibility in our paper on glyphosate & celiac disease, published in 2013: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3945755/
Glyphosate, pathways to modern diseases II: Celiac sprue and gluten intolerance
In the early 1990’s a newly recognized disease began to appear, characterized by eosinophil infiltration into the esophagus, which manifested as dysphagia in adults and refractory reflux symptoms in children (Lucendo & Sánchez-Cazalilla, 2012). This disease, termed eosinophilic esophagitis (EOE), is associated with a Th2 immune profile and synthesis of the cytokine IL-13, which has direct cytotoxic effects on epithelial cells. A dose-dependent induction of eosinophilia by intratracheal delivery of IL-13 confirms its association with EOE (Mishra and Rothenberg, 2003). An association has been found between EOE and celiac disease (Leslie et al., 2010). Patients with refractory celiac disease that is not corrected by dietary gluten restriction show an increased production of IL-13 in the gut (Gross et al., 2013). The incidence of EOE has increased at alarming rates in Western countries in the last three decades (Furuta et al., 2007; Liacouras et al., 2011; Prasad et al., 2009).
Glyphosate is highly corrosive to the esophageal epidermal lining, with upper GI tract injury observed in 94% of patients following glyphosate ingestion (Chang et al., 1999). In (Zouaoui et al., 2013), the most common symptoms in an acute response from glyphosate poisoning were oropharyngeal ulceration, nausea and vomiting. We hypothesize that glyphosate induces EOE via a systemic response as well as through direct contact. The pathogenesis of EOE is related to food sensitivities, but airborne exposure to chemicals in the lungs can also induce it, so it does not require physical contact to the allergen (Blanchard & Rothenberg, 2008). It is conceivable that glyphosate is responsible for the emergence of EOE.

From the start of Stephanie Seneff’s argument in her article “Connecting the dots: Glyphosate and COVID-19” she demonstrates a bias against the chemical usage. She mentions that she has already attacked the chemical with accusations of an “autism epidemic in the United States” which is not based on any factual evidence whatsoever. It is also important to point out that her argument is based on the fact that glyphosate is a major cause in the COVID-19 epidemic when the actual facts do not support this idea. If it was true that the virus is brought forth by the exposure of glyphosate then we should naturally see a large amount of cases in locations like Kern County in California where many people are exposed to glyphosate because of the huge amount of farming in this county. This is not true however because only 516 cases out of Kern County have been reported as of 4/16/2020. Aside from the obvious mistakes in her reasoning, it is notable to mention that the website this piece is written on is somewhat of a vlog for a scientist which is not the most trustworthy place. I can understand Seneff’s lack of knowledge in the subject due to the fact that her many degrees have nothing to do with things of the matter in the subject. Not really a trustworthy source.

Thanks Dr. Seneff for this great article and Jennifer for hosting it and helping me connect with the author. I found it on scholar.google.com and found it to answer many of my queries related to the sudden upsurge of pollution and respiratory disorders occurring in October/November in New Delhi India area and the novel Covid19. It is a recurring phenomenon from last several years and shows a very dangerous level of particle materials (PM). Apparently, it was due to a combination of burning residual crops in the adjacent states of Punjab and Haryana and the firecrackers. I clearly felt the connection between burning the residual crop (which usually means weeds residues and core crop residues) and the Glyphosate connection. The connection still has to be proved though the state of Punjab has controlled the use of the herbicide since 2018. Has it been enforced strictly? Perhaps, but may not be in all states of India and the USA and the rest of world. It was very intriguing to understand the connection between Glyphosate and autism too. Leading brands like General Mills and Nabisco have to accept the studies and banish the grains from crop treated with Glyphosate and other chemicals used in making the cereals and kids snack and stop influencing the regulatory bodies for the safe level definitions.
I interviewed Dr. Seneff and appreciated her time talking to me. With her approval I published it on youtube. Here is the link:

Oats are healthier, biofuels are healthier and eco- friendly alternatives once the contaminants are removed. It means temporary loss in economy and yield with automated crop production. It also opens up job opportunities if manual and more eco-friendly removal of weeds as suggested by Dr.Seneff in the interview are followed. Are people ready to go back to manual agriculture? That’s a billion dollar question and depends on the fashion and trends in general.

Hi.
I read the article and all the replies and i found it all very interesting. I found the article to be speculative, as already recognized by dr. Seneff in the answers, if I’m not mistaken.
I agree with some counter arguments and doubts and opinions brought to the discussion.
I suppose it is true that glyphosate isn’t one of the more acutelly toxic chemicals in the world as stated in the beggining. If the reason to classify it like that is it’s pervasiveness that should have been included in the sentence. Just as it is is misleading.
Also, as more than one people said, there are many ways and places in which glyphosate is used and so people can get exposed for multiple reasons besides living near water ways or airports or highways. Aditionally there seems to exist doubts about the presence of glyphosate (or derivatives) in the fumes from vehicles.
If glyphosate is the most used pesticide in the world, the truth also is that is only one. That’s the reason why people talk about glyphosate and why there are many studies around it. But, isn’t the burden from all other pesticides expected to be greater than glyphosate alone (not to mention other chemicals, food addictives, etc)? Shouldn’t theories about particular effects include those too?
https://unearthed.greenpeace.org/2020/02/20/pesticides-croplife-hazardous-bayer-syngenta-health-bees/
And what about gmo’s? Gmo’s aren’t the same as pesticides or glyphosate although they in general imply it’s use. Don’t do the gmo’s per si have the ability to affect the imune system? Why should glyphosate be the responsible for the effects concerning corona virus and not unentended effects/toxins from gmo’s themselves, even in exhaust gases?
I’m from Portugal, one of the two countries, along with Spain, that cultivate gmo’s in the EU. In Portugal, we only have one variety (mon810 corn) and much less area cultivated than in Spain. I think most of the production is for animal feed.
It is usual to read or to listen opinions about how europe is much better than the US (and other countries) in regulating gmo’s and that we follow the precautionary principle approach. Plantations are very scarce and gmo’s are to be labelled in the shelves if gmo level of ingredientes in any given product are above 0,9% of the total.
The fact is that many animal feed consumed in Europe comes from America (US but also Brasil and Argentina) and because of that the animals we eat, as well as derived products like dairy and eggs, are produced from gmo’s. Also, one thing is the law saying that the products must be labelled when containing gmo’s, other thing is to monitorize it and enforce it. To give an exemple:
https://www.researchgate.net/publication/301486776_A_Question_of_Segregation_%27GM-free%27_Maize_Bread_in_Portugal
We in Europe, eat all kinds of vegetables and fruits and cereals and wine that are made with the help of pesticides including through desiccant application, as with wheat or patatoes that are staple crops. Animal feed must say in the ingredientes if it contains gmo grains or not, but the meat, dairy and eggs we buy after don’t. So, the situation in Europe in not as great as sometimes it is said. For exemple, concerning glyphosate:
https://www.foeeurope.org/weed-killer-glyphosate-found-human-urine-across-Europe-130613
(in Portugal a test made in 2016 to 26 volunteers found glyphosate in all of them with levels higher than in other european countries – the study was conducted by environment organizations, though).
Additionally, China is too a big importer of US agriculture products, probably most made from gmo’s:
https://www.agriculture.com/news/business/to-meet-goals-china-will-be-ramping-up-us-ag-purchases-says-perdue
To me, the meat and derivatives consumption is more worrying than the exaustion of vehicles contaminated with glyphosate. That isn’t saying that your suspicion doesn’t deserve to be investigated as well, if there’s reason to it.
There are tests, as you know, where animals were fed with gmo’s, with and without pesticides. Even in the case where the animals were fed gmo’s without pesticides health problemas were noticed.
https://www.gmoscience.org/gmo-corn-non-gmo-parent-not-substantially-equivalent-part1/
There is already evidence that eating red meat can be a cause of cancer.
https://www.iarc.fr/featured-news/media-centre-iarc-news-redmeat/
Are there any tests that measure or look for the impact to the human health of people consuming animals fed with gmo’s? or their milk? Or their eggs? The world is increasingly eating animal foods made from gmo’s and noone seems to know for sure the effect of that consumption over our health. Animals raised eating feed made with pesticides wasn’t enough?
About biofuel use: it is said to be a more sustainable alternative compared with fossil fuels.
Agrochemical companies praise their products saying they help to feed the world and prevent the use of more land, harming natural habitats… Where does the cultivation of crops for biofuels fit into this? When forests, full of biodiversity, are being destroyed to plant more gmo’s or palm trees or sugar cane and most of that is to produce unealthy meat, ineficient in terms of resources used, or to burn in our vehicles, how can someone talk about sustainability? There is an opportunity cost in planting for biofuels and that means deforestation and higher food prices (to what extent is debatable).
To end I want to suggest two movies, specially for dr. Seneff, if you haven’t already seen them:
Little Shop of Horrors – https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0091419/ and
Little Joe – https://www.imdb.com/title/tt9204204/ (intentionally uncertain, like G.E)

Pete says
Dearest Stephanie, thank you so much for informing us.
Because glyphosate causes dysbiosis I guess you agree it does about the same damage to the gut as antibiotics does. Look at this study:
Antibiotics weaken flu defenses in the lung 2019 https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2019/07/190702112834.htm
Some quotes from this study:
Signals from gut bacteria help to maintain a first line of defense in the lining of the lung. When mice with healthy gut bacteria were infected with the flu, around 80% of them survived. However, only a third survived if they were given antibiotics before being infected. Two days after infection, antibiotic-treated mice had five times more virus in their lungs.
So I guess that with glyphosate you get also 5 times more virus, especially since glyphosate lowers zinc in our body. Zinc is vital to stop the Covid-19 virus from replicating inside the cells. So many doctors advice to take more zinc against the virus. Take it with Quercetin to get the zinc inside the cells.
However Glyphosate blocks the absorbtion of zinc due to chelation, right?
Low zinclevels can leads also to dysbiosis and more inflammation, according to this study:
Zinc deficiency leads to an altered microbiome and elevated Inflammatory markers https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC6895961/
So, that is a double attack on your gut by glyphosate, do you agree Stephanie?
Did you know that in France farmers spray glyphosate on grapes. Often they get Parkinson, then they get some compensation from the state because it is recognized as an occupational illness. In Holland, my country, some farmers also got Parkinson from spraying on their crops like brocolli and cauliflower even tulips. The wind blows the glyphosate to nearby houses around the fields, so not only farmers got Parkinson. Researchers took samples of the dust on the floor of those houses. The dust contained a double amount of glyphosate then houses elsewhere. Some parents were shocked because their children play on those floors. But dust is also in the air, you breath dustparticles into your lungs with the glyphosate on them. And you eat the broccoli, grains, beer, all together with glyphosate. And check out which other crops is contaminated: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crop_desiccation
In my country IC doctors try to explain why it is mostly obese man on the IC ventilators. Thrombosis is a big problem on the IC, some die from it, like getting a heart attack from it or bleeding in the brain. Those IC doctors think the hormone leptin is causing the thrombosis. Obese men have higher levels of leptin, which also causes more inflammation. But the Covid-19 virus raises leptin even more. So their advice is, take resveratrol, it lowers leptin. Resveratrol got many other benefits, search the internet for this, but I want to point out two interesting studies.
A 2017 study showed it can slow down a coronavirus, being MERS.
Check it out, https://rdcu.be/b3UoR Effective inhibition of MERS-CoV infection by resveratrol, by Shih-Chao Lin, et al. DOI 10.1186/s12879-017-2253-8
Many IC patients had also higher bloodpressure causing bleeding in the lungs. This is also because the virus occupies the ACE2 receptor, which gives a disbalance with the AT1 receptor, causing higher bloodpressure and inflammation, if I remember correctly the professor explaining this on tv
A second problem is the peptide Bradykinine. Without ACE2 Bradykinine level go up and so does the bloodpressure. Then the lungs bloodvessels start leaking, filling the lungs with blood. Doctors can lower Bradykinine with medicine, but also it is good to lower bloodpressure.
A 2014 Chinese meta-analysis found a statistically significant 11.90 mmHg reduction in systolic blood pressure from resveratrol doses of 150 mg/day https://www.clinicalnutritionjournal.com/article/S0261-5614(14)00084-3/fulltext
I wonder what you think of this all, Stephanie.
Stephanie Seneff says
This is an excellent comment with lots of good information. I am saddened to hear that glyphosate is being used extensively in Europe, especially since it is being used on grapes that are probably grown to produce wine. I find it interesting that Western Europe and Eastern Europe have very different statistics on COVID19, with much higher infection rates and mortality rates in Western Europe. I suspect a big difference between the two is that much more glyphosate is used in Western Europe. I totally agree with the idea that gut dysbiosis induced by glyphosate increases infection risk by disrupting the innate immune system. Zinc is also very important – glyphosate does chelate zinc, making it unavailable, and studies on rodents have shown that zinc supplementation before glyphosate exposure greatly reduces glyphosate’s damaging effects. thank you for providing this important information.
Daniel Arnaud says
Dr. Klnghardt suggests taking supplemental glycine as a way to displace glyphosate. And I suppose taking organic collagen and/or gelatin supplements, which contain high levels of glycine, might be helpful in reducing our glyphosate loads.

Dr Klinghardt has a protocol to reduce our glyphosate loads by using supplemental glycine. Using organic collagen as from bone broth might also be helpful.

TRUE! I became so seriously ill in May 2010 that I was disabled when exposed to various chemicals in the smallest quantity. I was seen by specialists at Boston’s top 8 hospitals, including #2 in the world, MGH, and #7 in the world, BWH. OVER 100 doctors had no explanation of why I was disabled from time to time.
In January 2013, upon exiting the elevator onto the newly renovated hematology floor of the Mayo Clinic, I became disabled. The nurse informed me that they had been getting migraines since the paint and new rugs were upgraded. They had to get me in a wheelchair because I could not walk. I also could not talk.
One doctor stated what’s wrong with Boston hospitals. Doctors immediately diagnosed multiple chemical sensitivity.
In 2010, I had contracted a virus and was put in ZPac. An RN prescribed the ZPac which I didn’t learn for years later it was illegal for an RN to write prescriptions in Massachusetts. My always low potassium resulted in serious pain in my heart which is now known to have been caused by the ZPac.
Extreme Multiple Chemical Sensitivity was diagnosed.
That explained why the new fuel used in some new Boston MBTA buses disables me. This study explains why I’m disabled by the buses and by Tropicana orange juice.
Yes, Tropicana orange juice which when I called Tropicana they confirmed they use in growing the oranges they use, but, and here’s the are you kidding me moment, we wash the oranges before we use them.
My reply was: “You wash the outer skin of the orange?” Answer: “Yes.” My final answer: “But the glysophate is sprayed as the orange is growing so the glysophate is inside your oranges.” That fact answered why a sip left me gasping for oxygen.
I look forward to reading more from MIT!
PS: My symptoms when exposed to chemicals, including glysophate are:
1) My tongue swells
2) I have difficulty breathing.
3) I lose my voice
and this last symptom is why the 7th neurological stopped typing into his computer notes,
4) I feel something like electricity in the back of my head which earns me to get or sit fine before I fall down.
The 7th neurologist stopped typing and asked in shock: “You can feel the autonomic system in your brain?”
I replied: “I don’t know what it is, but when I feel that I know my body is shutting down.””
Imagine my shock when this neurologist then informed me: “Eighty-five percent of all doctors don’t know where the autonomic system is (in the body).
Doctors and scientists have a long way to go to understand what many living with multiple chemical sensitivity understand.
The molecular size of these chemicals upon entering the tiny capillaries in the brain reduce the oxygen to the autonomic system which puts the body in a fight or flight mode.
One specialist explained that the brain shuts down what’s not critical to survive. This, no voice and no ability to move.

After reading your post article about the relationship between the Cov19 and Glyphosate mentioning Bhutan I have to say that there is more things about Bhutan you don’t know. The reason why the Cov19 did not spread is that once they found the first case ( an American tourist) They immediately closed the boarders and put everyone in quarantine that was in contact with him the other case was his girlfriend. The other cases they found it is just Bhutanese people returning home living overseas. Everyone who arrives from overseas (only locals are allowed) are placed in 21 days quarantine preventing to spread the virus in the communities in case that there are any positives. About the food very few people eat organic most of the food is imported from India genetically manipulated and not precisaly healthy food. The local produce is very scarce and very few vegetable options. Almost everything comes imported from India. The Bhutanese people don’t eat a healthy diet, their diet its very high in dairy & fat and they have a lot of health issues related to diabetes and high blood pressure is huge. The only thing that I can tell you is true is that is 70% of the country is landscapes and Bhutan is the only country in the world carbon negative. They really take care of their environment and their relationship with nature and earth is sacred. However, I think the reason why Cov19 did not spread here is because of their rapid response in containing the virus that allowed not to be spread.

My hat is off with the amazing work they are doing, the world should look to them not only for their integrity, ethics and their relationship with nature and animals but also as an example of how they prevented the Cov19. Bhutan’s National Happiness Index is measured on happiness of its citizens rather than economic growth therefore the king really takes care of its citizens and decisions are made careful based on their National Happiness Index.”

Thanks Jennifer for your comment and mainly about the informations on Bhutan. Even thought people from Bhutan are eating contaminated food from India, the difference with countries like Brazil and USA in terms of contamination is HUGE. People from Bhutan are not drinking glyphosate contaminated water and not breathing contaminated air either. The exposure is constant in those countries with chemical intensive agriculture. In Bhutan, they don’t sleep with glyphosate contaminated sheets, they don’t wear contaminated clothes. I mean all ground water are contaminated , soap also, so everything you wash is contaminated. As a very sensitive to glyphosate (and all organophosphates), my comments are based on my struggling experiences. Due to my awareness of the situation I’ve get rid of all my health problems.
Another point is that Bhutan has not been the only country who closed everything to fight covid. Cuba did the same. I was there and they suffered a lot more than countries like Bhutan, Burundi in brief countries with almost no chemical agriculture. On top of the use of pesticide after the Castro era, cuban consumes wheat almost like Italians.
Since march 2020, I noticed that correlation glyphosate-covid and I build up a document that you may see here (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iKyUsi95Rsg). Lots of example are given like south Africa that has 5% of the continent population while until October 2021 they had 40% of covid death on the continent. They are also champion of chemical agriculture. They have been impacted more than at least 20 European countries.

What a great source of information. Thank you so much, Jennifer, and especially to Dr. Seneff, whose academic sleuthing is astounding.

You are a kook! You should be banned from the internet for throwing out so much misinformation and disinformation. Wow just wow. You are merely the typical liberal with lots of emotion and no facts.

Thanks to the “emotion and no facts” of Stephanie Seneff I’m alive with no more health problems while I had dozens. On top of it more than 20 persons around me, mainly in my direct family and friends, have resolve all their health issues. Is those enough facts for you sir hided behind dog with dictatorship tendencies.

Glyphosate is deeply involved in an aborrent harvesting practice: desiccation.. the produce is plastered and the inevitable consumption disrupts biome, vit D and zinc become less available, immunity crashes and any attempted defence may lead to a deadly cytokine storm. And death! Yes autism needs explained but could someone justify desiccation.
